Who Is Sasha Calle? DC’s New Supergirl

The Flash, DC’s one of the highly anticipated superhero films of the year is released in theatres worldwide and it also features actress Sasha Calle, who is the first Latina to play Kara Zor-El. The Young and the Restless actress who is of Colombian descent is famous for her Daytime Emmy-winning portrayal of Lola Rosales and this time she will be seen in a major motion picture. Calle landed the role after tons of effort and auditioning against more than 425 actresses.

Calle is the fourth actress to play the role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in live-action, earlier aced by Helen Slater in the 1984 film, Laura Vandervoort in Smallville, and Melissa Benoist in The CW’s Arrowverse shows. The role also marks Calle’s feature acting debut.

When it comes to her character as Supergirl in the DC Universe, Calle says,  “I love Supergirl so much and I look up to her, and I think that she’s an iconic and strong and hopeful character.” To celebrate the historical portrayal of Kara Zor-El, Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, and DC have collaborated with Mattel to launch the all-new Supergirl Barbie doll.

Sasha Calle Has Teased Fans About The Flash Deleted Scenes

With Andy Muschietti’s long-awaited film, The Flash released in theatres on 16th June, fans have also got a chance to see the franchise’s Supergirl debut, played by the latest superhero entrant in the DCEU, Sasha Calle, in her first-ever feature role. Speaking with Collider, Calle confirmed that some of Supergirl’s fighting sequences weren’t included in the final film for the fans to see as they were a little too rated R. Calle teased her fans saying,

“I did a lot of stunts for that [silo] scene and some, I think, were a little too rated R [laughs], and they ended up kind of, you know, bringing it in,” “There are so many visual effects, but maybe one day I can ask Andy to let me see them because there were so many, and as much as I love stunts, I would love to see it. I would love to see the wholeness of those shots.”

DC Studios’ The Flash movie stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, along with Keaton and Ben Affleck who will reprise their respective versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman for the film.

In one of her latest Instagram posts after the release of the film, Calle was seen posing in her Supergirl costume, and in her long caption, she had a portion expressing her gratitude to the film’s stunt team. Some of her words were, “To our beautiful stunt team and our phenomenal stunt coordinator Eunice Huthart, thank you for being my haven. For letting me eat, sleep and breathe in that gym.” All in all, it can be concluded that Sasha Calle loved her Supergirl role.
