Taylor Sheridan Should Avoid 1 Annoying Trend in ‘Landman’ That He’s Established With Both Yellowstone and Lioness
- Fans express disappointment with Taylor Sheridan inserting himself in Yellowstone Episode 13.
- Viewers are hopeful that the co-creator will avoid doing the same for Landman.
- Billy Bob Thornton hopeful for Season 2 renewal for Landman.
Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman is one of the series that has grabbed the attention of the audiences. It takes them into a world set in West Texas and goes on to explore the modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. The show stars Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Demi Moore, Kayla Wallace, and more.
The show upon its premiere on November 17, 2024, received a positive response from the critics as well as the audience. Taylor Sheridan is also the creator of the popular neo-Western drama series Yellowstone, which is going to conclude after five seasons on December 15, 2024. The recent episode of Yellowstone has urged fans to request one thing that Sheridan should avoid for Landman at all costs.
Fans were disappointed with Taylor Sheridan taking up the screen time on Yellowstone
Episode 13, Give the World Away, of Yellowstone premiered on December 8th, 2024, and it has left the fans utterly disappointed. Directed by Michael Friedman, the episode saw the show’s co-creator, Taylor Sheridan, make an appearance on the show as Texas horse trainer Travis Wheatley. Beth Dutton pays him a visit to ensure that he is doing right by the Yellowstone.
The episode not only saw Sheridan’s Travis but also supermodel Bella Hadid, who played his girlfriend and decided to show off some of her horse-riding prowess. The executive producer Christina Voros recently spoke to THR about Sheridan’s appearance on the show and said,
She further added that Taylor Sheridan is known as the writer of these great American Western TV sagas, but he’s also a cowboy and a tremendous horseman. She noted that the co-creator spends time doing that as much as he spends writing stories about them. The executive producer mentioned during the conversation that it was wonderful to see the collision of the fictional world he has created with the actual world he has created himself.
Despite the executive producer praising Sheridan’s appearance and explaining that it felt like a full circle, fans had a completely different opinion on it. A user wrote, ‘I find it annoying how Taylor Sheridan likes to give himself a role in a show he is writing so he can play a cowboy in Yellowstone or play a soldier in Lioness.’
Another user wrote, ‘Can you believe the arrogance of that writer, to write himself into a story just to show off his horses and himself?’ Someone also wrote Taylor Sheridan making Bella Hadid his girlfriend in Yellowstone is objectively hilarious.
It’s quite clear that the fans did not want the co-creator to make an appearance on the show and take up a whole lot of screen time when there are so many things to wrap up. Yellowstone’s finale premieres on December 15, 2024.
He also made a guest appearance on his other show, Lioness, as Cody Spears, which, again, fans believed was not needed.
Billy Bob Thornton hopeful for Landman Season 2 after his Golden Globe nomination
Actor Billy Bob Thornton plays Tommy Norris on Paramount+’s Landman, and for his spectacular performance, he has earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a TV drama series. The actor recently spoke to THR and is hopeful that his nomination will help them get their show renewed for Season 2. He said,
Billy Bob Thornton has been highly appreciated for his work on the show, and in his conversation with Deadline, he shared that Tommy Norris was written for him. He explained that when he did a cameo in 1883, Taylor Sheridan told him about Landman and informed him that he was writing Tommy Norris’ character for him. Eventually, Thornton became intrigued with what was to come, and when he was sent the script, he couldn’t say no.
The actor said he thought if he were a landman, he’d be like Tommy Norris. Now with Taylor Sheridan following the pattern, fans are keeping their fingers crossed as they hope that the co-creator does not write himself in the show.
Fans love Taylor Sheridan’s writing, which is why Yellowstone, Lioness, and Landman are successful, but they don’t see a point in him inserting himself into the show and taking up the screentime of the cast members. So they are hopeful for good news for Landman and sitting at the edge and praying for Sheridan not to write himself into the show.
Landman and Yellowstone are available to stream on Paramount+.
