Taylor Swift Follows the Kill Them With Kindness Mantra in Her Brilliant Response to Dave Grohl’s Alleged Dig at Eras Tour
Taylor Swift has had a long career, but it has not exactly been a walk through the park and has seen enough twists and turns. Besides her beef with some other artists and her much publicised conflict with her previous record label, she has also been the target of harsh criticism over the years.
Being as successful as she is obviously comes with a cost and at times, it is in the form of criticism and unexpected jibes from fellow artists in the industry. However, Swift has taken all that in stride and now is no different. Recently, Swift seemed to clap back at Foo Fighters lead vocalist Dave Grohl’s alleged dig at The Eras Tour.
Dave Grohl Took an Unexpected Jibe at The Eras Tour
Dave Grohl began his music career as a member of the punk band Scream. After its disbanding in 1990, he joined the grunge band Nirvana. The band’s second studio album Nevermind, released in 1991, achieved worlwide success. However, this band too disbanded in 1994 after the death of the lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain.
Grohl retreated into isolation after Cobain’s death, but made a comeback as the lead singer and songwriter of Foo Fighters, which released its debut album in 1995. He has continued to make music as a part of the band for almost three decades now, and he happened to have a concert at the London Stadium on the same day as Taylor Swift‘s second night at Wembley Stadium.
While addressing the crowd at his concert, Grohl seemed to take a dig at Swift’s Eras Tour as he said (via Billboard):
I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift. So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’ We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f—ing errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live. What?! Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f—ing place.
There is no telling what triggered the rocker to make such accusations, but fans on the web did not seem to thrilled by the alleged jibe he took at the Lover singer.
Taylor Swift Takes the Age Old Route of Kill Them With Kindness to Clap Back at Dave Grohl
Swift is no stranger to such criticism of her work or her tours, but she has not been one to directly attack someone. She does not even exclusively confirm the targets or inspirations behind her songs and words, which leaves them open for public interpretation.
Less than 24 hours after Grohl’s dig at the Eras Tour, in a video posted on X, the Blank Space singer seemed to respond to his accusation that she and her band don’t perform live as she appreciated her band at the third and last night of her tour stop in London.
Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band — who’s gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight — they deserve this so much. And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.
The Look What You Made Me Do singer thanked the audience of 80,000 or so people for a standing ovation after the combined Folklore-Evermore set. That said, her tour has been record-breaking as it has turned out to be the highest-grossing tours in history and has witnessed the attendance of numerous celebrities.
