Swift took to her social media to endorse Kamala Harris for the upcoming presidential election in November. She wrote that she’d be voting for Harris because she fights for the rights and causes what the singer believes needs a warrior to champion.
She further wrote that according to her, Harris is a steady-handed, gifted leader and believes that if Harris is elected, the United States will be led by calm and not chaos.
Taylor Swift also shared a link to Vote.gov on her story, urging fans to register and vote when the time comes. Variety has reported that a spokesperson for the General Services Administration, which runs the site, shared that in 24 hours, the website saw about 405,999 visitors referred directly from Swift’s IG.
The GSA further mentioned that on September 11, 2024, there were more than 27,000 new registrations via Vote.gov; however, it is unknown how many of the voters who registered were directed from Swift’s post. Taylor Swift also took the opportunity to urge fans to register to vote during her speech at the Video Music Awards 2024.
