Taylor Swift’s One Monumental Achievement Will Have Billie Eilish Shaking in Her Boots After Her Candid Admission About Doing “psychotic” 3-Hour Shows
Taylor Swift has proved her proficiency as a musician in her career spanning almost two decades. From hit singles and chart-topping albums to sold-out stadium tours, she has touched certain milestones that very few female musicians have achieved. She is also the first to become a billionaire with music as her sole source of income.
Swift embarked on The Eras Tour in March 2023 and has been famously putting on 3-hour-long shows throughout the tour. However, Billie Eilish, who has recently released her album Hit Me Hard and Soft, and is now gearing up to embark on a tour, has stated that she will not be putting on shows that long, which might be a subtle dig at Swift. That said, a recent milestone that the Dress singer has reached might make Eilish reconsider her words.
Taylor Swift Has Reached a New Milestone with The Eras Tour
Taylor Swift began professional songwriting at 14, and it is safe to say that her career has not exactly been a walk in the park. From Kanye West stealing her spotlight at the 2009 VMA acceptance speech and the feud involving Swift, West, and his wife Kim Kardashian in 2016, to Scooter Braun buying the masters of her first six albums through his company Ithaca Holdings in 2018, the Lover singer’s journey has been a rollercoaster ride.
In the five years since her Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018, she released four studio and two re-recorded albums, but had not toured for any of these. So, she came up with the Eras Tour, which implied that she could tour all of her albums, even the ones that she released while on tour.
However, to be able to include a decent number of songs from all these albums, the concerts had to be long, specifically 3-hours-long. It has to be noted that she is not the only musician to do so as Eric Church and Bruce Springsteen have also done this.
That said, the Fortnight singer took to Instagram on June 16 to celebrate the tour hitting the 100th concert mark on June 13. In the caption, she thanked her crew, fellow performers, and her band for putting in all the hard work needed to achieve such a milestone. She also thanked the fans for making such an achievement possible.
Billie Eilish Refuses to Put Up 3-Hour-Long Shows
At the mere age of 22, Billie Eilish has 9 Grammy Awards, 2 Academy Awards, and 2 Guinness World Records, among other accolades under her belt. With the release of her third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft, she is all set to embark on her seventh headlining concert tour, and has made it clear that fans better not expect her to put on 3-hour-long concerts.
According to a fan recording on X, during a pop-in chat with fans on the Stationhead app, Eilish said:
I’m not doing a three-hour show, that’s literally psychotic. Nobody wants that. You guys don’t want that. I don’t want that. I don’t even want that as a fan. My favorite artist in the world, I’m not trying to hear them for three hours. That’s far too long.
Given it’s her concerts, the What Was I Made For? singer is obviously free to do as she pleases. That said, some fans, including Swift’s devoted fans, might have taken offense at how she put it because it could be interpreted as a dig aimed at the Karma singer.
