Jon Bernthal Talks About The Character Of The Punisher
During an interview with the reputed media outlet Entertainment Weekly in 2015, Jon Bernthal spoke about the moral compass with respect to Matt Murdock played by Charlie Cox and Frank Castle in the series. He said-
“Matt is a devout Catholic — and you rarely see a character who’s a devotee anything on TV. Frank has Hammurabi’s Code. It’s like letting a great white shark into the water.”
He pointed out that The Punisher’s moral conduct is a bit different from Matt’s. While talking about the controversial nature of his character, he further said-
“This character has resonated with law enforcement and the military. He’s brought the war home with him in the worst possible way. And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn’t care.”
Jon Bernthal even spoke about walking all the way to the Brooklyn Bridge from the set of Daredevil only to understand and get into the head of Frank Castle’s isolated headspace.
