As a result of his endearing and humorous personality, Downey Jr. is also renowned for being one of the goofiest people to be around. However, it was recently revealed that the actor had once been deeply hurt by a remark made by actress Kate Winslet.

Downey shared during the episode that he had auditioned for the part that Jude Law played opposite Cameron Diaz, whereas Jimmy Fallon auditioned for the part of Jack Black. They noted that they were aware that they were not the front runners for the part they were auditioning for as Law and Black were a tough competition at the time.

The actor explained, “We both got called in just as seat fillers…[director Nancy Meyers] needed someone to read with the gals and we’re sitting there going, ‘It’s about to happen for us’. And I was like, ‘I’ve got to have a better English accent than Jude Law at this point.’ And Winslet said, ‘That was the worst British accent I’ve ever heard.’ And I was like, ‘I’ll check out now, but I’m taking the gummy bears from the minibar’”.

Jimmy Fallon was in praise for Robert Downey Jr.

Talk Show Host and comedian Jimmy Fallon, however, shared that Downey was the best actor he has ever sat across from and did a scene with him in his entire life. He added, “This was mind-blowing to me. I quit the business. I never went back. That was the last time I auditioned for a role.”

Robert Downey Jr., who is going to appear in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer along with Cillian Murphy, said Nancy Meyers told them at the time that they were good, just not the perfect fit. Stern told them, “That movie would have been so much better with the two of you guys.”

He also spoke about his upcoming movie, stating that it is the first serious dramatic role he is been a part of since his exit as Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor during the London premiere of the movie admitted that it is the best film he has ever been a part of and he cannot wait for everyone to experience it.

Is The Holiday getting a sequel?

The Holiday released in 2006 was a success at the box office, grossing $63 million and receiving positive responses from the audience as well as the critics. Last December, there were rumors about the movie getting a sequel, stating that Winslet and Meyers were working on something.

Winslet, however, debunked the rumor of the successful movie getting a second part as she shared with People magazine, “I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that never comes up.”

The movie follows the story of two lovelorn women from the opposite side of the world swapping their houses for the holidays and finding love most unexpectedly. The romantic comedy was loved by fans and can be streamed on Hulu or Netflix.
