Angelina Jolie has been slaying roles since she started her acting career. The Original Sin star has no regrets about any role she has played. However, her co-star Colin Farrell harbored certain regrets over staring alongside Jolie in Alexander. The Salt actress’s unfiltered reaction became a significant part of the movie. Angelina Jolie reflected on the unscripted scene and according to FarOut, the actress said:

“That was improvised. That just happened. And me spitting on him just happened. It was when they were fighting, and it actually came out of him disrespecting her. In fact, it was a crass thing, and it angered me.”

Jolie played Olympias, the mother of Colin Farrell’s Alexander the Great, and explained that the spitting reaction was out of her character’s anger on Farrell’s character as he disrespected his mother during the heated argument scene. The unfiltered reaction contributed to the authenticity of the movie and proved how immersed the Maleficent actress was in her character.

Colin Farrell Had To Rethink His Acting Career After Starring With Angelina Jolie

It may astonish many to know that Alexander is one of the biggest flop movies by Colin Farrell. One of the biggest controversies of the movie was that despite being of the same age, Jolie played the role of Farrell’s character’s mother. However, the Minority Report actor praised his co-star for her transformative performance, and he regretted plying Alexander after the film’s reception.

While talking about the controversies and negative reviews for the movie, Colin Farrell in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter said:

“And it was one after another was [telling me] to pack my bags, I’d been found out: ‘Alexander the Dull,’ ‘Alexander the Boring,’ ‘Alexander the Inarticulate,’ ‘Alexander the Weak.’ I was like, ‘Holy s***.’ I thought, ‘What can I do?’ I felt so much shame.”

The actor continued to say that over the years he realized the importance of the audience and how it could impact an actor’s career if they waste their time by stepping into projects that were not made for them. The actor continued and added:

“I found myself in a place where with everyone I met I wanted to say, ‘Have you seen Alexander? If you have, I’m really sorry.’ I’m not even joking. I did. Now, I wasn’t going to give them their $20 million back.”

However, the actor regretted falling short on public anticipation, one thing he lauded was Angelina Jolie’s incredible work in the movie. The actor even labeled her “a powerhouse” for creating a definitive character.
