“That’s the sense I get from them”: Mia Goth Has a Positive Update for Blade Despite Numerous Delays That Have Made Mahershala Ali Frustrated
Mia Goth seems to have some good news for fans who have been waiting for Marvel’s Blade for quite a few years now. The movie has been in developmental hell long enough for people to begin doubting if it will ever come out of there.
With the news that Mahershala Ali, the actor set to play the titular character, is getting frustrated with the endless delays in the movie’s production, fans might have gotten even more desolate. However, Goth has recently made comments that might act as the light at the end of the tunnel for those who were beginning to lose hope.
Mia Goth Has A Positive Update Regarding Blade for MCU Fans
Mia Goth began her journey in the entertainment industry as a model at the age of 14 and began auditioning for movies at the age of 16. Her first movie was 2013’s erotic art film Nymphomaniac. She went on to star in movies and series of diverse genres such as horror and crime.
Goth gained widespread recognition for her role as Maxine Minx/Pearl in Ti West’s slasher film X. The film received critical and commercial acclaim, spawning the prequel movie Pearl, released in the same year as X. MaXXXine, a sequel to X, is all set to hit the theatres soon.
In April 2023, Deadline reported that the Emma actress had joined the cast of Blade. At the world premiere of her movie MaXXXine, she spoke to Deadline about the delays regarding Blade and said that the people involved in the making “really care, they do.”
They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.
This positive update regarding the movie will hopefully give fans some much-needed relief. Reportedly, Goth will be playing the role of Lilith, a supernatural Marvel villain, who is after Blade’s daughter’s blood.
Mahershala Ali Is Getting “Frustrated” With The Delays in Blade‘s Production
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Mahershala Ali is increasingly frustrated with the prolonged development process. While Blade is not the first movie to undergo such a huge amount of delay, it might not be the first Marvel movie that has switched through this many writers.
The movie, first announced in 2019, was initially going to be written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour. Later, Michael Starburry came in as the writer. Nic Pizzolatto and Michael Green also tried their hands at it. Currently, MCU veteran scriptwriter Eric Pearson is penning the script.
After Bassam Tariq exited as the director, allegedly Ali took it upon himself to pick out a director and settled on Yann Demange. However, Demange too has now retired from his position as the movie’s director.
Blade is eyeing a November 2025 release.
