‘The amount of editing here is embarrassingly obvious’: 60 Year Old American Music Legend Paula Abdul Accused of Stooping to Ridiculous Photoshop Tactics to Look Like a ‘Little Girl’
Paula Abdul is a singer, dancer, choreographer, actress, and television personality. She has choreographed numerous music videos for Janet Jackson. Paula Abdul was also among one the original judges of the X-factor. She was recently invited to Kathy Hilton, an American television personality, and Paris Hilton’s mother’s Christmas party. The 60-year-old shared some pictures of the star-studded party that she attended. Fans were absolutely baffled by her pictures as Abdul looked unrecognizable.
Heidi Klum, Jaclyn Smith, and Paris Hilton herself were also some of the people that were in attendance at the party.
How was Paula Abdul’s Holiday Party?
The 60-year-old singer posted some pictures of the great night she spent with her pals. Paris Hilton‘s mother threw a grand party for Christmas. But people couldn’t help but notice the amount of editing and photoshop that went into Abdul’s post. She looked nothing like she does in real life in those pictures. The comments hounded the multitalented celebrity for posting such obviously edited pictures on Instagram.
“Wow. I don’t understand this. Everyone knows what you actually look like. The amount of editing here is embarrassingly obvious,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Someone stole Paula’s Insta..that’s an entirely different face!” one more follower wrote in disbelief.
While some trolled her, some encouraged her to be comfortable in her own skin. Paula Abdul received a lot of messages saying that aging is absolutely fine. No matter how old she gets, the star will always look beautiful. By doing this she is not only creating an unattainable standard of beauty but also setting an example that is impossible for young women to follow.
Photoshop and its complicated relationship with women
Since the rise of Instagram, women especially have felt a need to not only hide their insecurities but to enhance their looks to such a level that sets an unhealthy example. Paula Abdul isn’t the only one changing their features to an extent that feels ridiculous just to hide the imperfections that people wouldn’t generally notice.
It can have drastic effects on one, such as body dysmorphia, low self-esteem, and eating disorders. The need to photoshop is a vicious cycle and it gets very difficult for the one that gets trapped in it. From changing skin color to clearing skin pigmentation, everything is handy with this tool and thus this platform gets abused by it the most. Photoshop wasn’t meant for these purposes at all and the fact that it is mostly used for this purpose tells a lot about society’s expectations of beauty and youth, and how people are suffering from it.
Aging is a beautiful process and Paula Abdul should embrace it instead of denying its existence and set a realistic example for women all around the globe to look up to.
