Supernatural alums Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins join Jensen Ackles for The Boys Season 5
Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, will return for the highly awaited fifth and final season of The Boys. But he’s not alone, as Amazon officially announced that the actor will be joined by his co-stars from Supernatural, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. In a video shared on social media, Ackles is heard saying to his Supernatural counterparts;
Hey, Jared. We have work to do…again.
Padalecki responds by saying that he’ll tell Misha Collins, and then the actor pops up. The details about their roles have been kept under wraps, but surely it has increased excitement for the fans who had been waiting for the Supernatural reunion. It has been reported that the three will share a screen space.
Erick Kripke, who created Supernatural, has previously mentioned that he’d love to have Padalecki on The Boys. In his interview with EW, he mentioned,
The value of that is to break the Internet. So we’ll see whether it’s right for the story. But yes, it’s occurred to me that putting those two in a scene together would destroy much of the world, and that’s appealing.
The creator also shared with Variety that he feels like he has to complete his game of Supernatural Pokémon, hinting at having Padalecki on the show.
At the time mentioned that he was not sure if it was going to be an episode or something bigger, as they were still trying to figure things out. But Kripke was adamant that he was going to bring Padalecki onto the show, and now he has Misha Collins too.
Erick Kripke shares why The Boys is ending with Season 5
The creator of The Boys Erick Kripke had announced that the show would conclude its story with its fifth season, and everyone wondered why. In conversation with THR, he explained the reason behind the show coming to an end despite being very successful. He said,
From the very beginning, I wanted to wrap it up around season five. And then I would say plans really solidified that we were going to actually do it years ago. I think we were probably in the middle of making season three, so it could have been three or four years ago that we always knew.
Kripke further added that he does not know why he likes the number 5; it has always been a good number where one gets enough. He shared that it could be because he was trained as a TV writer and there were five acts, which gives one enough time to get to know the characters. He noted that one could have their calm-before-storm moment, which is what season four was to him.
Antony Starr, who plays Homelander, shared with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast that Kripke started the show by saying that it will be a five-season thing. He mentioned,
I think everyone wants to go out on a strong note, and I think there’s nothing worse—and I’ve been involved in a show that did this; it was f***ing horrible—you do that last season, and it’s sh**. And you get remembered very poorly and you’ve got to kind of wear that.
The actor mentioned that he thinks that they will go out on a really strong note, and they all deserve it.
There is no set date for The Boys season five as of now, but seasons 1-4 are streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
