In the world of celebrity pals, showing support says a lot more than just talking. However, that is not what you would expect from Taylor Swift, because her latest Instagram activity has caused a stir among fans and media alike.

The singer chose to hype up Zoë Kravitz’s movie Blink Twice, but where was she during Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us? Lively and Swift have been tight since the mid-2000s. But looks like some drama might be brewing between these besties!

Tay’s new way of backing people makes fans curious about how she juggles her friendships and public image, especially with all the recent fuss around her friend’s project. Is she carefully walking a tightrope between loyalty and PR moves?

Taylor Swift’s Selective Promotion to Protect Her Image

Taylor Swift’s Instagram is like a cheerleader’s pom-poms for her friends. She’s always there, spreading the love for whatever they’re up to and giving them a big virtual high-five. For instance, the 34-year-old recently cheered on Sabrina Carpenter’s new album Short n’ Sweet and hyped up Zoë Kravitz’s upcoming thriller Blink Twice.

But oddly enough, the pop star didn’t mention It Ends With Us, a film starring her very close friend, Blake Lively. Even though the film also featured her song My Tears Ricochet. It Ends With Us is a movie based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling book, which focuses on sensitive themes of domestic violence.

The film’s release hit a snag because it didn’t come with a warning about its sensitive themes. Some critics deemed it inappropriate given the subject matter. Swift usually promotes her friends’ projects, so people are wondering if her silence about It Ends With Us might be a clever move to dodge the bad press the film is getting.

Unlike her quiet stance on It Ends With Us, the Lover star recently gave a big boost to Blink Twice on her Instagram stories. This film tackles serious issues like s*xual violence, and T-swizzle made sure to include a content warning in her post.

This move seems to be a nod to the backlash that Lively’s movie got for not having a similar warning. Looks like the songstress learned from the fuss and is making sure her promotions are a bit more thoughtful!

Lately, Taylor Swift has been seen cheering on her friend Ryan Reynolds by giving a big shout-out to his new movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. This summer, Swift posted a playful Instagram story promoting the Marvel movie, which stars her BFF’s husband.

In the post, she jokingly called herself the godmother to the couple’s kids, writing, “Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sp*rm donor!”—a nod to Reynolds’ Deadpool character. Lively and Reynolds have four kids, and Swift has clearly bonded with them over the years.

She even mentioned their names in her song Betty and gave their three daughters—James, Inez, and Betty—a shoutout during her ‘Eras Tour’ earlier this year. The couple’s fourth child, Olin, was born in 2023.

It Ends With Us is still screening in theatres.
