The ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Sequel Rumors are All False and Ryan Reynolds is Telling Us Why
- Deadpool & Wolverine was released to critical and commercial acclaim earlier this year.
- Rumors about a sequel have been running rampant on the internet, but Ryan Reynolds has recently struck them all down.
- Although Reynolds was a little sad when they were done making the movie, he is also immensely proud of how well they did.
Deadpool & Wolverine certainly gave the world exactly what it needed even if it lasted for only a couple of hours. It might not have been the best movie, but it was a great source of entertainment and a fresh breath of air for Marvel fans across the world. In addition to its huge commercial success, it has also garnered recognition from the Academy.
For the past couple of months, there have been numerous rumors circulating on the internet regarding a sequel to the movie getting fans all worked up to see their favorite superhero duo team up against evil forces. However, lead actor Ryan Reynolds has recently struck down any such possibilities for the foreseeable future and also revealed his reasoning behind this which makes complete sense.
Ryan Reynolds Shoots Down Those Deadpool & Wolverine Sequel Rumors
It is no secret that the world has Ryan Reynolds to thank for bringing Deadpool to the big screen. He rallied for the comic book character to have a solo movie for years and all his hard work finally came to fruition in 2016 when the first movie was released. Its sequel was released in 2018, and the next one took long enough that people were starting to lose hope as was Reynolds.
Thankfully, Hugh Jackman decided to end his retirement as Wolverine and rang up the Green Lantern actor to discuss teaming up for a movie. The rest, as they say, is history. That said, a month or so ago, the X account MyTimeToShineHello claimed that a sequel was in talks. However, they are not always right about these scoops, and that also seems to be the case now.
During his appearance at the 13th Annual Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in partnership with Variety, he spoke to Extra and debunked rumors about a sequel. When asked about it, he quipped:
Oh, now bite your tongue! I would love that, but there’s a reason it’s been six years since the last one. It just sort of swallows my life whole, and I, you know, have four kids that I wouldn’t mind introducing myself to at some point and spending a little time, just walking them to and from school.
His reasoning seems understandable because he has four kids and a beautiful wife, Blake Lively. They deserve his time and attention as much as the fans do if not more. So, if he takes another six years for the next one, fans will have to patiently wait.
Ryan Reynolds Was Sad When They Were Done Making the Movie
Deadpool & Wolverine is a special movie not just for the fans, but also for everyone involved in its making. So, when its production came to a head, Reynolds was a little sad even as proud as he is of what they did together. He told Extra:
loved every second of it, and it’s probably the only film I’ve ever finished that I mourned. I mean, I was genuinely sad and a little depressed when we locked picture, the final sound mix, I remember that was kind of it and then suddenly I just felt like, ‘All the possibility is gone. Like, that’s it, this is the movie. That’s what’s going out there.’
Earlier in the conversation, he also stated that he is very proud and lucky to have made the film with all these talented actors and crew members. He also said that it was great to see the world welcome the movie with open arms and to have been able to give everyone a source of joy.
Deadpool & Wolverine is available for streaming on Disney+.
