Striking a work-life balance may become difficult at times, but Ryan Gosling has been doing well so far if his relationships with his colleagues and his family are anything to go by.

Ardent fans of the star will know that he worked on played numerous dark roles at the beginning of his career. He collaborated with director Derek Cianfrance on two such movies, namely Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines. It was during the filming of the latter that he met Eva Mendes.

Recently, during an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Gosling stated that he is no longer going to take on psychologically dark roles.

“I don’t really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place. This moment is what I feel like trying to read the room at home and feel like what is going to be best for all of us. The decisions I make, I make them with Eva and we make them with our family in mind first.”

Although this is probably not what fans were expecting, Gosling cannot be blamed for putting his family first as long as he keeps bringing his A-game to the movies he puts out.

The Oscar nominee has been in a relationship with Mendes since 2011. The couple share two daughters- born in 2014 and 2016 respectively. The Other Guys star retired from her acting career so that she could pay attention to her family, so it seems fair that Gosling is making decisions with his family in mind.
