James Avery, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, and Janet Hubert were also part of this sitcom. Smith and the other actors who worked in this sitcom were also applauded by the people for their incredible performance in the drama.
The show started in the year 1990 and ended in the year 1996. After delivering 6 hit seasons, the makers of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air not to go forward with another season.
Will Smith wanted to quit The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air after Season 6
There is no doubt that, the American sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air shaped, Will Smith’s future in Hollywood as an actor. Right after the sitcom he was one of the best actors in the industry. Soon, the actor had the urge to give up on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air because he wanted to sign other projects.
Reportedly, it was the Men In Black actor who said 6 seasons were enough for the sitcom. As the makers of the show saw the lead Smith trying to walk away from the sitcom, they reportedly thought it was best not to continue any further. In a statement, while talking about the sitcom, Smith said,
“You become a family. On some weeks you spend more time with your TV family than you do with your real family. It’s hard to say goodbye to that atmosphere, but we felt like it was time. We’ve all grown as actors and as people, we had an incredibly talented cast, but the show is just limiting.”
He further added,
“TV is a good workout facility, where you get to work on your timing and other paces, but I think I’ve had enough time in the gym. Now I’m ready for the coach to put me in the game . . . motion pictures.”
Smith and Marcell were the ones who were in favor of ending the show as Marcell decided to quit and move to the United Kingdom. As two characters of the show decided to quit, the makers also decided to end the show after season 6.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air wanted to end the show after Season 4
As per reports, NBC didn’t want to go forward with another season after season 4 and the word was spread that the makers were not coming back with another season. The fans and followers of the sitcom reportedly wrote letters to the makers and requested them to come back on screen with another season.
