The Marvels Star Brie Larson Replaced Spider-Man Actor’s Ex in $18.6M Film, Got Dropped Out Due to This Reason
Brie Larson is a prominent name in the entertainment industry and her association with successful franchises and a huge fan following speaks volumes about it. The American actor rose to fame with her critically acclaimed 2015 movie The Room, which brought her a both Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Actress.
The Sleepover actor was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain Marvel in 2019. She played the titular character and has also reprised her character in the various chapters of the MCU franchise. The actor was also associated with the legendary movie Battle Of The Sexes.
Brie Larson Replaced Emma Stone In the Battle Of The Sexes
During the Toronto Film Festival in 2015, Brie Larson spoke to the media outlet Vanity Fair about the kind of projects she has always wanted to be a part of. In 2016, the Marvel actor made headlines for receiving multiple awards for her critically acclaimed movie The Room.
Brie Larson was also roped in by the director duo Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton for the sports drama The Battle Of The Sexes in 2017. According to the media outlet Variety, Emma Stone was supposed to play the role of Billie Jean King, but due to schedule issues, the Spider-Man actor had to drop out of the project.
The Steve Carell starrer Battle of the Sexes was one of the most critically acclaimed projects in Hollywood that dealt with the historic tennis match that went on to remove gender discrimination with respect to pay parity in the world of Tennis. Talking about the iconic match, The New York Times had mentioned-
“In a single tennis match, Billie Jean King was able to do more for the cause of women than most feminists can achieve in a lifetime.”
The sports biography was nominated for numerous accolades and was also critically acclaimed for the great performances of the actors.
Brie Larson’s The Marvel Might Face A Delay In Release
With the current SAG-AFTRA strike going on, clouds of uncertainty have shrouded the future of Hollywood. Multiple projects have been halted, and the ones that have been completed their release date is getting delayed. According to the rumors from the tinsel town, Brie Larson’s The Marvels is expected to bear the brunt of the strike.
As per the report of Bloomberg, there is a possibility of The Marvels’ release getting delayed due to the ongoing strike. The filming of Deadpool 3 was also forced to shut down due to the unprecedented SAG-AFTRA strike. Marvel heads Louis D’Esposito and Kevin Feige had issued a joint statement mentioning-
“We recognize how much you’ve all done on your specific projects and it’s disappointing when carefully laid plans have to shift, but constant change is the nature of the production business, and our teams are no stranger to unexpected challenges and rising to meet them.We deeply appreciate all your efforts to make the best of the situation, and we can all hope that a new agreement will be finalized soon so we can resume the great work we have in the process.”
Disney is looking forward to re-evaluating its release schedule and it has been expected that a few projects might be postponed and some would be pre-pond too. The trailer of the Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellan starer The Marvels was released on April 11, 2023, and the release date is in the month of November 2023. However, not much can be said about The Marvels’ release amidst the messed up condition due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Brie Larson’s The Marvels is expected to release on November 10, 2023.
