“The money couldn’t have been that good”: Marvel Fans Are Stunned After Tyrese Gibson Says He is Waiting For Sony’s Offer For Morbius 2
Actor Tyrese Gibson is a big fan of his character in the movie Morbius, even though critics hated it and audiences didn’t flock to theaters. Despite scathing reviews and a box office flop, the actor has expressed his desire to reprise his role in a potential sequel to the 2022 film.
The movie Morbius tells the story of Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto), a scientist with a rare blood disease. Desperate for a cure, he attempts a risky experiment using vampire bat DNA. Instead of a cure, he gains superhuman abilities like strength, speed, and echolocation, but also develops a thirst for blood.
Gibson played Simon Stroud, an FBI agent hunting down the main character. It’s interesting to note that this character was originally depicted as white in the comics, the film adapted him for a black actor.
Marvel Fans Surprised as Tyrese Gibson Awaits Morbius 2
Tyrese Gibson, who played FBI agent Simon Stroud in Morbius, recently opened up about his disappointment over cut scenes in the film. In an interview with CBR, Gibson revealed that a major fight scene featuring his character and the villain, played by Matt Smith, was filmed but ultimately excluded from the final cut.
He was also supposed to have a prosthetic arm sported by his character that appeared in the trailer but was absent from the movie. Despite this, the Watts native is thankful for the chance to be in the movie and said he’d be happy to be back if they make another one. The 45-year-old stated:
“I would be honoured to dance with Daniel Espinosa and the crew again, [and] Jared Leto, yeah, I would love it. I would love it if that opportunity presented itself, yeah.”
The Hollywood actor only expressed his desire, but fans don’t seem too keen on the idea. Check out some fan reactions:

Either he is self aware or a certified in denial clown. Guess to much work on a mindless franchise like the fast and furious family series does this .
They'd have to be frothing at the mouth to make Morbius 2

Sony Pushes Forward with Spider-Man Universe Despite Morbius‘ Reception
While Gibson is excited about the idea of a Morbius 2, the first movie didn’t do so great with critics or in theaters, so it might not happen. Despite that, Sony Pictures is pushing ahead with more Spider-Man Universe movies. They’ve got two new ones planned for 2024: Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Kraven the Hunter. With these two flicks, Sony is aiming to replicate the success of earlier Spider-Man films.
