Madame Web, Sony Pictures’ planned Spider-Man spinoff, has found its star. Dakota Johnson, who starred in Fifty Shades of Grey and The Social Network, will portray the title role, according to THR. In the comics, there have been two significant Madame Webs. Denny O’Neill and John Romita Jr. developed Cassandra Webb, who originally appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #210 in 1980. The character was an old, clairvoyant mutant who suffered from a neuromuscular ailment that forced her to rely on a life support system, despite the fact that her talents allowed her to serve as a medium. When Webb died, she passed her talents on to Julia Carpenter, who became Spider-Second Woman’s incarnation and, in turn, Madame Web’s second incarnation. It’s unknown which version of the story will be told in the film, but considering Johnson’s age in relation to both characters, it’s safe to assume she’ll portray Carpenter.

And it has been… It’s just been a few weeks since I’ve returned to reality, returned home, and begun to confront real-world difficulties, and it feels like we’ve been in some strange dream.
