Exciting news for Daredevil fans! The reboot of the beloved series is coming to Disney+ next year. It follows Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights crime in Hell’s Kitchen. The show picks up where the Netflix series left off, with Matt facing off against his nemesis, Wilson Fisk (played by Vincent D’Onofrio), also known as the Kingpin.

With 18 episodes, it is set to take a fresh take on the character, inspired by one of Marvel’s most successful shows ever. According to Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum, Born Again will follow the blueprint laid out by X-Men ’97 — the animated revival series that premiered earlier this year to critical acclaim.

Recently, Brad Winderbaum, an executive producer, said in an interview with The Official Marvel Podcast that Daredevil: Born Again will revive what fans loved about the original series but take the character in a new direction. The reboot will show how Daredevil has dealt with the past few years and how the world around him has evolved. He stated:

Daredevil is incredible. It’s similar in some ways to X-Men ’97 because it’s reviving something fans love but taking it in a new direction. These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was, things have changed.

The decision to draw inspiration from X-Men ’97 might seem unexpected at first glance. After all, the two shows are quite different in tone and style. However, there’s an important similarity that Winderbaum probably values. X-Men ’97 brought back a beloved 90s animated series, updating it for today’s audience while keeping its original essence. Daredevil: Born Again wants to do the same thing.

Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock/Daredevil, revealed some exciting details about the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series in an interview with Collider. Fans loved the long, unbroken fight scenes in the original Netflix show.

These are calledoners.’ When asked if Born Again would feature similar fight scenes, the actor explained “there are different types of oners.” Some are filmed in one take, with no editing or tricks, which are known as “true oner.”

Others might have a very sneaky cut hidden where the screen goes dark for a moment. Either way, Cox promised that fans who enjoyed the ‘oner’ fight scenes in the old show won’t be disappointed with Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025. Meanwhile, fans can watch X-Men ’97 on Disney+!
