With this hot take on King Charles, Howard Stern is reverting to his shock jock roots!

The controversial host of The Howard Stern Show attacked the British monarchy on Monday’s episode, saying that after watching clips of the coronation, all of England needs to “get a grip on themselves”. The 69-year-old also criticized the weekend-long celebrations, marking the monarch’s coronation, saying they were a “disgusting” waste of money, given Britain’s rising cost of living.

For the unversed, the official coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla took place at Westminster Abbey on May 6. After the coronation weekend, the official portraits of the King and Queen were released to the public.

Howard Stern Slammed King Charles’ ‘Repugnant’ Coronation

King Charles III’s historic coronation was watched by more than 20 million viewers in the U.K. on Saturday, May 6, but Howard Stern was not pleased with the festivities.

On The Howard Stern Show, the 69-year-old criticized the coronation of King Charles, telling his co-host, Robin Quivers that U.K. citizens needed to “get a grip on themselves. I understand, maybe it brings in tourism, but Jesus H. Christ.”

He further said that King Charles is,

“A p—y, to start with. That’s No. 1 — and people are acting like — the whole ceremony they’re acting like that f–king guy went to war or something, and then beat up all the other people.”

Quivers added, “Did something great besides being born,” to the conversation.

Stern responded:

“Yeah. But you know, they’re like, ‘We swear our allegiance to you and you are a great warrior.’ I mean, the whole thing is f-king nuts.”

The author, a radio and television personality, as well as a comedian, then went into detail about why he found the ceremony disgusting, citing England’s current economic challenges.

He raged,

“It was disgusting. And I’ll tell you why it’s disgusting. I mean, it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to say this, but, you know, England’s having its own economic problems and they spent a fortune on that coronation. And it’s just repugnant to watch a country who’s suffering through economic problems … and then you see the pomp and circumstance.”

But He Did Understand The Significance Of The Monarchy

In the beginning, Howard Stern made it clear that he was aware of the monarchy’s importance to the country in terms of tourism. Thus, Stern did admit that the British monarchy “provides a flavor to the country and something for people to go see.”

“It’s part of the tourism. I get all that. I’m not naive, but it just sends the wrong message.”

Stern has previously expressed his disapproval of the royal family on numerous occasions, so this isn’t the first time he’s done so. He really dislikes both the concept of the monarchy in general and the way things are done in England.
