Chris Hemsworth is highly affected by Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino’s comments on his beloved superhero character. Recently, Hemsworth opened up about his disappointment with Scorsese and Tarantino’s perspectives on actors in MCU films.

The Thor actor is certainly a big fan of Scorsese and Tarantino, however, their different opinions have slightly pushed Hemsworth away from working with them. Both Scorsese and Tarantino have vocally criticized the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Chris Hemsworth demonstrates loyalty to the Marvel franchise

Chris Hemsworth has been a part of the Marvel Universe for several years. The actor is renowned for his role as Thor. The superhero film is very close to Hemsworth’s heart, as it has given him recognition in his acting career. Recently, the actor reacted to Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino’s comments on the Marvel Universe.

Both directors have criticized the MCU in the past, which has disappointed Hemsworth. The actor claimed that he will always be a fan of both directors; however, he is skeptical about their opinion of him as he is a part of the MCU. During an interview with British GQ, the actor said,

“That’s super depressing when I hear that. There goes two of my heroes I won’t work with. I guess they’re not a fan of me.”

The 39-year-old actor has been associated with the Marvel franchise for a long time and shares a connection with the franchise. The actor spoke about his gratitude towards the MCU. He said,

“I’m thankful that I have been a part of something that kept people in cinemas. Now, whether or not those films were to the detriment of other films, I don’t know. I don’t love when we start scrutinizing each other when there’s so much fragility in the business and in this space of the arts as it is.”

Getting a chance to work with renowned directors Scorsese and Tarantino is a dream for many actors, however, their thoughts on the MCU don’t align well with Hemsworth’s opinion. Referring to Scorsese and Tarantino, Hemsworth said,

“In a heartbeat, I would leap to work with any of them. But I say it more to the broader opinion around that topic. I don’t think any of us have the answer, but we’re trying.”

Currently, Hemsworth is set for his upcoming Netflix film Extraction 2, which will mark its release on June 16, 2023.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a huge fanbase, but not everyone seems to be impressed by the franchise. Recently, director Quentin Tarantino “called out Marvel-ization of Hollywood” making movie stars obsolete. He said,

“You have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters. But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a zillion times…but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star.”

Director Martin Scorsese also has a similar opinion about the franchise, as he has also blatantly criticized the Marvel films. Previously, during an interview with a news outlet, he said,

“Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”

Irrespective of various opinions on the MCU, Marvel alum Chris Hemsworth stood firm on his MCU ground.
