The first season of The White Lotus opened up to critical acclaim, which led to HBO renewing the limited series into an anthology series. The storyline, complex characters, scenic beauty, and the performance of the actors have been highly lauded by the critics as well as the audience. The trailer for season three was recently released, and the audience has high hopes, but at the same time, they wish Mike White had corrected one mistake from season two.

The third season stars Aimee Lou Wood, Blackpink’s Lisa, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, and more.
Natasha Rothwell, who played Belinda in the first season, makes a return and relocated. The third season will feature a trio: a southern-states family whose father is about to be busted for some crime, an age-gap couple, and a new security guard. In the trailer a concierge says,
Our hotel is the best in the world. After the week, you’ll be an entirely different person.
While fans are excited for the third season to drop, a Reddit fan reminded the audience one thing that they really hope has changed for the third. They mentioned that despite its popularity and success, season 2 of The White Lotus did not feature a single character that was memorable or made a lasting impression. The user wrote,
There’s no single character in season 2 that I like. They are all disgusting, scheming, and shallow pieces of shit. Even Tanya [Jennifer Coolidge] is the same self-absorbed and childish brat she was a year ago.
The Reddit user added that the only character who showcased some sense of redemption and self-reflection is Dominic Di Grasso, played by Michael Imperioli. They noted that season one, which featured Sydney Sweeney, Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Lacy, and more, was more likable, and they stayed with the audience for a long time.
A user defended season two by stating that the show is a satire and it’s meant to have characters that are exaggerated and have personalities that comment on society’s toxic relationships and gender dynamics. Users commented that Season One was indeed great, but it was also a setup for the upcoming season that was equally good.
Someone in the comment section added that every time one revisits the previous season, they’ll end up having a different perspective toward the characters.
Mike White describes season 3 of The White Lotus as ‘longer, bigger, crazier’
In an interview with EW back in 2023, the showrunner Mike White had shared that the upcoming season of the black comedy series is going to be supersized ‘White Lotus.’. He added at the time,
It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my barometer, that’s a good thing.
The showrunner spoke to HBO right after the premiere of season two and shared that where the first season highlighted money and the second season highlighted s*x, according to him, the third season would be a satire and funny look at death.
Natasha Rowell shared with EW that her character Belinda still works at The White Lotus, and she is in Thailand doing a kind of exchange program to learn more about the wellness program. She added that Belinda is going to be a guest for the first time and staying at a hotel, something she hasn’t done before.
Rowell recalled that after Tanya informed her that she was going to pull back her funding for Belinda’s business plan, she was devastated. The actress noted that over the course of the Italy season, Belinda is just trying to dig herself out of the sadness that Tanya had left her in. Her purpose in coming to Thailand is to find her dream again.
The White Lotus season 3 premieres on February 16, 2025, on HBO.
