Idris Elba Felt His Fame And $40M Fortune Affected His Love Life
People may believe that being famous offers numerous benefits, but that was not the case for actor Idris Elba. He believes that his rising popularity made it harder to maintain a relationship. The Suicide Squad actor claimed that it would have been much easier to be in a relationship while he was still anonymous. He once said, “Look, you probably think I’m getting lucky all the time. But there’s no way.”
Because his private relationships were made public as a result of his career, Elba thought potential partners already had preconceived opinions of him. This put his relationship, which was still in its early stages, at risk. In an interview with The New York Times, Elba said, “They just have so much of who I am wrong, they feel like I must be a playboy.” He went on to say that it’s “completely misunderstood.”
Elba thought he wasn’t all that different from his Luther persona in this regard. The Mountain Between Us actor said,
“I’ve had many failed relationships but not because I’m an a*s, just because there are so many complexities to relationships and perhaps I’m very guarded, just like Luther’s guarded.”
He also stated that this is the cause of people making assumptions about him that he hasn’t addressed till now.

How Idris Elba Met Wife Sabrina Dhowre?
After a few failed relationships and heartbreaks, Elba became weary of the idea of love. Ironically, he met his now-wife Sabrina Dhowre while they were filming the romance drama The Mountain Between Us in 2017. “I was done with love. And it was there that I met Sabrina in a bar. She made me open to the idea of love again,” the Hobbs & Shaw star said in an interview.
Their love for each other was so strong that it convinced Idris Elba to marry again. In April 2019, Elba and Dhowre tied the knot in an extravagant Moroccan ceremony.
