”They give me breadcrumbs”: Unlike Brie Larson, This Marvel Actress is Sure Her Return to the MCU is Inevitable
After the box office failure of Brie Larson led The Marvels, the future of Captain Marvel looks shrouded with uncertainty. Brie Larson’s The Marvels could have changed the fate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by the end of 2023, but failed to do so. With a production budget of $274 million, The Marvels managed to secure a box office collection of $206 million.
However, in comparison to Brie Larson, Ms. Marvel actor Iman Vellani might return to the superhero franchise.
Unlike Brie Larson, Ms. Marvel Actor Iman Vellani Will Definitely Return To The MCU
During the 2024 Anime Awards, Canadian actor Iman Vellani spoke about her biggest project The Marvels. While talking to Polygon, the 21-year-old actor was asked about the future of Ms. Marvel in The Marvel franchise. Vellani mentioned with a smile that they gave her breadcrumbs and she went on to cook a meal out of it. She said-
“I have been assured. So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. [laugh] They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it.”
Iman Vellani shared the screen with Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris in the Nia DaCosta-directed project. According to the rumors, Ms.Marvel’s character might be roped in for the upcoming collaboration between X-Men and Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the 2024 SAG Awards, Brie Larson indirectly indicated her exit from the MCU. On being asked about her return to the MCU, the actor subtly hinted towards her exit from the MCU and said-
“I don’t have anything to say about that.”
Brie Larson’s The Marvels is the direct sequel to her 2019 released standalone project, Captain Marvel.
Iman Vellani Looks Foward To Team Up with X-Men’s Wolverine
During an exclusive interview with ScreenRant in November 2023, actor Iman Vellani spoke about her wish to collaborate with X-Men characters in the second chapter of Ms. Marvel. She revealed that she would like to team up with Emma Frost and Wolverine due to their chemistry with Kamala Khan in the comics. She said-
“Oh my God, there’s so many. I love Kamala’s relationships with older superheroes because it feels like she just has so many mom and dad superheroes. In the comic that I’m writing right now, I have her interacting with Emma Frost a lot, and I thought that was such a wonderful relationship because in Grant Morrison’s run, Emma is such a maternal figure and in a lot of ways, she really cares about the children, but she’s so cutthroat, and I love that she doesn’t sugarcoat anything for Kamala.”
While talking about the kind of rapport she wants to share with Emma Frost, she further added-
“She would be straight up, no BS telling her how things are, but then still stroke her hair and take her shopping and do all that. And I love to see her having a relationship like that. That would be cool. I always say Wolverine because their interaction in the comics made me very happy. Gosh. Angel, Jubilee, all the younger people. I think there are so many to choose from, honestly. It’s impossible. Lila Cheney, imagine if she interacted with Lila. And Lila’s music is probably well-known, and Kamala is definitely a fan of hers, so that would be pretty cool to see Kamala freak out over her and then get teleported away. That’d be fun.”
According to Iman Vellani’s statement, the audience might end up witnessing a collaboration between Ms. Marvel and X-Men soon. Hugh Jackman-led Wolverine is making a comeback with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool And Wolverine in July 2024.
