DC studio’s Tomorrowverse fans were provided with a confusing announcement recently by the San Diego Comic-Con’s official Twitter Page. While announcing the DC’s upcoming 2024 animated project Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, it was somehow branded under DC Universe which is reportedly going to begin in 2025.
So, to clear any confusion, DCU’s Co-Chairman and Co-CEO James Gunn took matters upon his hand to clear the confusion in the people’s minds. As far as his explanation goes, it all seems to be a small and silly mistake.
James Gunn Clears the Recent Confusion Surrounding Upcoming Justice League Project
It seems that DC Universe co-CEO and co-chairman James Gunn decided to make things clear as soon as he heard about the recent mistake by San Diego Comic-Con. While announcing the upcoming Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths animation project via San San Diego Comic-Con’s Twitter page, the film was mistakenly labeled under DCU led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
However, it is already known that the Soft reboot of Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe DCU will officially begin in 2025 with Superman: Legacy.
Therefore people were left in confusion due to the recent tweet. And amid all this, Gunn finally took matters into his hand to clear the air surrounding the DC world. The director took to his Threads writing,
They messed up”, “it’s been corrected.”
Following this clear-up, the tweet has also been removed since. So as far as anyone is concerned, the upcoming Justice League is not a part of the DCU but is rather the Eleventh installment in DC studio’s Tomorrowverse media franchise.
A Brief Look at Upcoming DC Studio Projects
The DC studio collaborated with Warner Bros to distribute various of its film, series, or animation franchises. And the latest media franchise which is called DC Universe will be led by James Gunn, who recently left MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), and Peter Safran.
It is going to be a newer version or a softer reboot of the DC Extended Universe led by Zack Snyder which began from 2013’s Man of Steel. The DCU will officially begin in 2025 with Superman: Legacy written and directed by Gunn.
There is already a plan in place for multiple DC characters that will appear in the new media franchise. This new phase is also titled Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. At the same time, the studio’s animation franchise Tomorrwoverse will drop its eleventh installment Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths which will venture into her multiverse concept like MCU’s.
