“They were comfortable”: Like Sydney Sweeney, Dakota Johnson Had No Regrets Stealing Clothes from Fifty Shades Set That Was Used in Her Steamy Scenes
Sydney Sweeney is an American actress well known for her diverse appearances in a variety of movies and TV shows. She began her career with small television roles before becoming a household name. Her career, however, really took off when she appeared on the HBO drama series Euphoria, where she wowed audiences. It’s interesting to note that Sweeney once openly admitted to stealing a few wardrobe items from sets, giving her journey a dash of mischief. And even Dakota Johnson, a well-known actress, has come forward to reveal that she, too, stole some wardrobe items from the Fifty Shades of Grey sets.
Sydney Sweeney admitted to stealing clothes from sets
Over the years, a lot of actors have been pretty upfront about their minor on-set thefts, and Sydney Sweeney is no different. The star of Euphoria opened up about her habit of bringing home a few souvenirs following her acting gigs. She recalled the very first item of clothing she ever stole off a set, which happened to be from her time on Everything Sucks, in a conversation with Teen Vogue. She couldn’t help but take the cute plaid skirt and red top that Emaline, her character, wore. In the interview with Teen Vogue, Sweeney admitted, “I was obsessed with it,” and it now has a special spot in her closet as a treasured memory of the world in which her character lived.
It turns out that she chose to steal jeans for her theft from the Euphoria set. However, these weren’t your typical jeans. Sweeney had a good excuse for stealing them because they had been specially made to fit her, during filming. So these pants just fit like no other jeans in the world. She stated to Teen Vogue “So these jeans just fit like no other jeans in the world. Who else is going to wear them?” Therefore they sneaked their way into her bag.
Those personalized jeans fit her like a second skin and were too appealing to leave behind. She is not the only one who takes clothing from sets, though. Dakota Johnson has also joined the club.

Known for her work in Bad Times at the El Royale, Dakota Johnson shared some unexpected trinkets she stole from the Fifty Shades of Grey sets. For Johnson, the Fifty Shades series’ filming was a real emotional rollercoaster. It posed its fair share of difficulties between the sensual scenes, powerful emotional moments, and creative disputes on site. Johnson was open about these difficulties, including her creative differences with the Fifty Shades books‘ author, E.L. James. Despite these obstacles, she was still able to enjoy some humorous moments, such as when she decided to bring home some unusual mementos.
She admitted to having no regrets about stealing quite a few pairs of underwear with a dash of humor and honesty. Johnson disclosed this in a Q&A for Glamour UK in February 2015 by remarking, “They were comfortable.” Her reasoning? Simply put, they were unbelievably comfy! She casually mentioned having a flogger too, tucked away in her garage, collecting dust.
