Willow Smith is an American actor and singer, and the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. She made her acting career debut in 2007 in I Am Legend and then starred in Kit Kittredge. Willow Smith’s performance even earned her a Young Artist Award. She began her music career in the fall of 2010 in addition to her acting profession by releasing her single Whip My Hair and joined Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation. The emerging artist recently talked about her mother, Jada  Pinkett Smith’s experience as a Black woman in a metal band.

Wicked Wisdom was the band founded by Jada Pinkett Smith in 2002, and the group released two albums altogether. The band’s highlights included performing at the 2005 Ozzfest on the road and opening for Britney Spears. The band hasn’t been active for a while, even though they never formally split up. In an interview the former vocalist, Jada Smith admitted that heavy music is still an important part of her life. “I love Mastodon, Crowbar, Skindred, and Cult Of Luna,” she said when quizzed on her favorite bands. The singer told despite her receiving threats while leading her metal band, she really likes listening to heavy music.

The budding young star, Willow Smith revealed the terrible struggles that her mother Jada Pinkett Smith endured as a Black musician who creates heavy metal music. Giving her followers a unique inside look into her life, the Meet Me At Our Spot singer, 21, disclosed that after starting the band Wicked Wisdom in 2002, her mother experienced bigotry and received “death threats.” Willow discussed the “crazy” situations that her mother had to deal with from within the metal music industry in her most recent interview with Glamor UK. Although she had a terrible encounter with racist fans, Willow Smith persisted in following in her mother’s footsteps and pursuing her own career in rock music.

The Wait A Minute singer discussed the racism that her mother, Jada Smith faced in the interview with Glamour UK.

Oh, my goodness. She was getting death threats. It was a crazy amount of stuff going on,” Willow Smith continued, “I remember being like, ‘Yo! People are really upset about this, they’re mad that a Black woman wants to do metal and is in the space.

The singer  had already spoken about her numerous encounters with fan “resistance.” She told the media source, “At least it’s not like how it was when my mum was touring and people were throwing broken glass and shouting racial slurs at her,” Stating that her conditions of working in the industry are far better than that of in the past.
