Even though everything looked great from the outside, Malik’s departure in 2015 raised some concerns about whether everything was well within the band. Although the rest of the members stayed together for another year, Payne’s comments hinted that everyone does not have the same feelings toward each other.
Liam Payne Faces Backlash From Directioners
There are usual fans of musicians and bands, and there are One Direction fans. Directioners are arguably the most dedicated fans ever, who are still waiting for their favorite band to reunite even after 8 years of their disbandment. However, on one side, where fans thought 1D members have a very strong bond, Liam Payne‘s words paint another story. It all started on his Impaulsive podcast appearance, where Payne made some controversial statements about fellow members.
To begin with, Payne claimed that Simon Cowell thought him to be One Direction’s face and “then worked around the rest.” On one hand, where Harry Styles disagreed to rank his fellow members’ solo careers on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Payne openly claimed to have the most successful solo career after the disbandment.
He later made some comments about Zayn Malik’s upbringing, saying his parents were very supportive, whereas Malik had a “different upbringing in that sense.” He also took a dig at Malik’s failed relationship with Gigi Hadid after making comments like “That guy’s a d*ck.”
All these comments and controversial claims build up to fans’ frustrations, which once again got triggered recently after Payne attended Niall Horan‘s concert and was apparently trying to grab fans’ attention from his box. Netizens didn’t take his actions lightly, and the singer has been receiving backlash for his previous comments as well.

What upsets fans more is that all the rest of the 1D members had never said anything negative about their fellow bandmates publicly, although they were asked many times about their personal opinions of each other in interviews. Adding to that, Payne’s ex-fiancée made some revelations about the singer’s fight with his band members recently.
Maya Henry On Liam Payne and Zayn Malik’s Fight
In the Impaulsive podcast, it seemed like Payne had a separate rivalry going on with Malik during his 1D days. Payne revealed a fight that happened with one of his bandmates saying,
There was one moment where there was an argument backstage and one member in particular threw me up a wall. So I said to him, ‘If you don’t remove those hands, there’s a high likelihood you’ll never use them again.’
Now, Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry revealed in one of her TikTok videos that the member was none other than Zayn Malik. Henry also made some revealing comments about Payne in another TikTok video, saying that he preys on his loyal fanbase.
He preys on One Direction fans because they’re loyal to him. When you constantly enable someone, they’re never gonna realize what they’ve done is bad, or they do realize and they know they can get away with it.
Henry’s statements after Payne’s controversial remarks about his former band members didn’t seem to land well with the singer. Although he is often seen attending his One Direction bandmates’ concerts, fans have started feeling that the singer is doing all that to repair his image and gain attention.
