Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is currently preparing for his upcoming Sony film Kraven the Hunter set in the Spider-Man universe, most recently played Tangerine alongside Brian Tyree Henry in Brad Pitt’s Bullet Train. Despite playing a supporting role, Johnson’s performance was well-received by the audience.

After Daniel Craig, the veteran actor is said to be the front-runner to take on the role of James Bond in the series. But because they adored the connection between the two performers, many have been wondering if Tangerine and Lemon will ever be the subject of a spinoff film. Brian Tyree Henry related a humorous event from their filming that shows how unique of a character Taylor-Johnson is.

Actor Brian Tyree Henry, who had appeared in MCU’s Eternals, appeared as Lemon in Bullet Train alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who appeared as Tangerine in the movie. Their chemistry in the movie was something that the audience adored and have expressed desire to see their spin-off movie if that could work.

The movie follows Brad Pitt’s character called Ladybug who aims to complete a snatch-and-grab job that goes into a haywire as he finds himself fighting off an ever-growing number of fellow assassins with their respective motives. Audiences and critics loved the movie, but what stood out the most was the brotherly bond between Taylor-Johnson and Tyree Henry.

Being inspired by their very unique-named characters, Taylor-Johnson’s action when they were filming was hilarious actions to the Eternals star who shared in an interview with Esquire;

“This fool went and got an actual lemon tree and sat it between our trailers. Over the course of the movie, we could watch and nurture this tree. I was like, ‘What the f**k are you thinking?’ But he got me to water this plant, spray the leaves. That’s Aaron. He’s just like, ‘We’re going to figure out how to take care of this together.’ ”

However, there is no update on what happened to the tree/plant but they did care about it until the movie wrapped.

During an interview with Variety, the actor shared that he did not aspire to use the character’s race as a punch line for comic relief, adding that what they chose to lean into was why they don’t have their kinship and brotherhood that has been around since the dawn of time and they really care about each other and believe that each other are brothers.

This was pointed out after it was known that the actors’ characters not only had unique names but were also said to be The Twins. Tyree also shared that the duo met for the first time during a chemistry read on the Sony lot and they went off the rails with it and forgot to stick to the script to which the director just said to them that they are definitely twins.

The actor also added,

“We would finish each other’s sentences. I knew what he wanted to snack on in between takes. We did so much improvising in this movie, and David, bless his heart, kept most of it in. We would just get together and riff off at one another. Aaron is truly my family to this day. Family comes from the unlikeliest of places, which is what I think you see with Lemon and Tangerine.”

Last year, Taylor-Johnson also shared that the two of them hit off instantly, adding that Brian Tyree-Henry is a handsome person and a good friend, noting that everything the audience sees in the movie is them just going way off the page and improvising.  He added,

“ Brian Tyree Henry is such a versatile, talented actor, and I was already a huge admirer of his work. But I didn’t know who Tangerine was until he stepped on set as Lemon, and that’s when I knew I’d be in good hands.”

He also spoke about Kraven the Hunter and said that it’s a new character, something that he had not done before as he believes in changing and evolving and he only wants to move forward and move out of his comfort zone. He also clarified that his upcoming movie sets him apart from that Marvel stage look and it’s important for the character to be in the real world.

Kraven the Hunter will release in theaters on Aug. 30, 2024.
