The word is that even though Elba is the most popular choice, it is unlikely that he will play 007. Apart from the fact that the actor himself has said that it is “not a goal” of his, he does not meet the alleged criterion the studio has listed out.

Reportedly, the studio is eyeing actors under the age of forty. Elba is now fifty-one. In fact, all the frontrunners in the survey do not make this criteria which is considered as the actors will play the character for over a decade.
