Mila Kunis admits that her parents are firm about not taking money from her
In her appearance on the Howard Stern Show back in 2016, actress Mila Kunis shared that her parents are very firm on not accepting any money from her. Howard Stern asked the actress why her parents never took a dime from her, which he mentioned was unusual, especially thinking about their financial situation, to which Mila Kunis replied:
“We were really poor, and I had money. Here’s a crazy thing. I was nine and got the first commercial and went out for a camping Barbie or something. It was like the old school Mattel commercials where you play with Barbie. I’ve never been able to pay for dinner. Like to this day, I could never, like ‘let’s go out for your birthday dad, and then like he calls the restaurant before we get there and puts his card down.”
She added that she always tells her parents that she would like to treat them to something to which the host asked her why her parents wouldn’t let her spoil them. Mila Kunis replied, saying,
“OMG Howard, this has been a huge problem — never. I cannot stress to you how stubborn they are.”
Kunis continued to share that her parents have lived in the same condo since she was 11 adding that when she and Ashton Kutcher were moving in together she asked her parents to move into her old house, to which she said that her parents got offended. Mila Kunis talks about insisting her children as self-made
In her appearance on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Mila Kunis mentioned that she had husband Ashton Kutcher plans to raise their two kids humble and balanced. She said to achieve that she was going to tell them that they were poor.
The actress went on to explain,
“The one topic of conversation we had even prior to ever having kids was always, ‘How do you raise a child to not be an a**hole?’ It’s so important because we both came from pretty solid poverty backgrounds and grew up very poor and are very much self-made and are very aware of what a dollar is worth. Nothing’s been handed to us.”
Kunis noted that the couple are going to tell their kids that they are not necessarily entitled to the couple’s money, adding that they are going to teach their kids the same values at a very early age.
The couple who share two kids, Wyatt Isabelle and Dimitri Portwood, said that their kids surely won’t have ketchup soup for dinner but they would very much like for the kids to appreciate what they have.
