“This is now my favorite athlete”: The Tallest NBA Player Becomes Star Wars Messiah After His 1 Opinion on Daisy Ridley’s Trilogy That Everyone Agrees With
NBA star Victor Wembanyama from San Antonio Spurs is a symbol not just of height but also of one of the best basketball players today. Standing at an astonishing 7 feet 4 inches, the French wonder is already capturing a lot of attention for being the tallest active basketball player. But there is something else that makes him stand out from the rest, and that is his love for Star Wars.
Wembanyama is obsessed with the tales of the Jedi and the Sith and the heroism of Luke Skywalker and various other characters in the Star Wars saga. His love for the space opera does not solely exist as a fan, but more so as a basketball player and a human being.
Victor Wembanyama Does Not Like the Last Three Star Wars Movies
Victor Wembanyama’s love for Star Wars is as real and honest as his opinions about the franchise. In a recent interview with JJ Redick, the basketball prodigy revealed his top three Star Wars movies as well as criticized Daisy Ridley’s trilogy. He said,
First of all when I say Star Wars, I don’t count the three last movies. I’d say to you know as a 2000s kids, I’m more of a prequel fans fan even though I love the original trilogy, but so my favorite is Revenge of the Sith, and my second favorite’s gotta be Attack of the Clones and I’d say the The Empire Strikes Back, yeah this is my top three.
It seems like Wembanyama is not the only one who doesn’t like the last three installments of the franchise, as many fans online shared their feelings.
Doesn't love the sequel trilogy?? This is now my favorite athlete.

Wembanyama has recently bought an $850 Millennium Falcon LEGO set with his first NBA paycheck. He recently used a Star Wars reference on his Instagram, to sum up his rookie season in the NBA.
Daisy Ridley’s New Hopes for Star Wars Return
While Wembanyama criticizes the sequels, the Star Wars world goes on, and one of its leading heroes returns to the big screen. Daisy Ridley, who portrayed the scavenger-turned-Jedi Rey in the divisive trilogy, is ready to reprise her role in the upcoming Star Wars: New Jedi Order.
However, Ridley herself has stated that coming back to the role of Rey after having played it for quite some time was not easy work. Ridley even admitted that occasionally she wonders if she remembers it right. In an interview with Total Film, she said,
I would hope it feels natural in some way, but also like – I don’t know – like it’s a new adventure. I’m hoping it’s sort of a bit of both.
Ridley also feels that this time she will be able to own the character of Rey in a much better way, as she has grown both personally and professionally over the years. In an interview with Empire, she said,
I suppose I owned it the first time. Basically, I’m an adult now. I certainly did not feel like an adult at the time. Obviously, personally, things have changed, and professionally, I’ve had lots of other experiences, and so I definitely feel like it’s a different thing this time.
The story details of the upcoming movie are still unknown. However, it is set 15 years after Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. While opinions about the sequels may differ, not many people can come close to being as much of a Star Wars fan as Victor Wembanyama, as he is truly an ambassador for Star Wars in the field of sports.
Star Wars: New Jedi Order is scheduled to release in 2026.
