Hayley Atwell’s Marvel association landed up with one of the most liked characters from the superhero franchise. The Mission Impossible star played the love interest of Steve Rogers popularly known as Captain America. From the introduction of multiverses to getting new characters on board, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has diversely changed over a period of time.

One of the most prominent changes in the storyline dates back to the 2014’s Captain America 2. According to actor Hayley Atwell, Marvel had tweaked the angle of Peggy Carter’s husband in the sequel of Chris Evan’s starrer movie. According to the actor, Marvel Cinematic Universe only wants their audience to know, what they should be knowing.

Hayley Atwell On Captain America’s Major Plot Twist

During an interview with the media outlet Collider, the Black Mirror, actor Hayley Atwell, popularly known as Peggy Carter revealed a major change in the plot of the second chapter of Captain America. She went on to reveal how the superhero franchise kept away from revealing the identity of her off-screen husband in Captain America: Winter Soldier. Hayley Atwell recalled the instance when they were filming her bed scene and said-

“I remember when I was filming it, the prop master had put a framed photograph on Peggy’s bedside, of Peggy with her husband and her children, and Louis de Esposito ran over just before we started rolling, going ’take that out. We don’t know yet. We don’t want to limit ourselves by kind of suggesting this is who she’s married.’ And so that was taken out. And I thought, ‘OK, that’s really interesting.’”

While talking about the reputed superhero franchise, Hayley Atwell said-

“And so that I think what [Marvel is] so good at, they’re so good at giving the audience what they want and exceeding the expectations. And I think that’s why they’re always aware of just feeding the amount of information that the audience need to know, to keep engaged, but also delighting them and surprising them with, with new information.”

In Chris Evan’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter was seen in archive footage. After the second installment of Captain America, Marvel launched Agent Carter based on the life of Peggy  Carter which was canceled after its two seasons. The TV series featured Hayley Atwell as the titular character and her love interest was played by actor Enver Gjovak.

Actor Hayley Atwell went on to make millions of women jealous when she was chosen to play the love interest of one of the most loved superheroes of all time in the history of cinema. The Avengers: Endgame actor portrayed the role of Peggy Carter in Chris Evan’s Captain America series. During an interview with the media outlet She Knows, the British American actor spoke about being paired up with one of the most handsome actors in Hollywood. On being asked whether she was impressed by the transformation of Chris Evans, the actor said-

 I did [laughs]! I couldn’t help myself. It was instinctive. I hadn’t seen him with his top off until that moment. I was like, “Go for the man-b**b.”

“I loved the fact that she was a 1940s woman and she was strong — kind of reminded me of the strength that Bette Davis and Katharine Hepburn had. It’s such a stylish time and I love that and I love the fact that she doesn’t need to be saved. I think Peggy’s someone who can hold her own around guys, obviously.

Hayley Atwell’s Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One is set to release in theatres on July 12, 2023, worldwide.
