Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about her experience shooting the scene, Robbie revealed it was a bit different from her usual style of work.
“I need to be with other actors then all my focus is on what they’re doing and then all I need to do is react to it and I’m just too in my head. All I need to do is react to it and I’m just too in my head. I was looking at the camera it kind of felt like I was having a chat with everyone.
Robbie’s slight apprehension eventually went away and she ended up nailing the scene.

Robbie’s appearance in the movie which also starred Christian Bale, is part of director Adam McKay’s unique style of storytelling. The 2015 film is an adaptation of a book by Michael Lewis titled The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine; based on the 2007 financial crisis. The film also has special appearances of Anthony Bourdain, Richard Thaler, and Selena Gomez; who all help make the complex world of Wall Street more understandable to viewers.
However, the I, Tonya star added she really enjoyed the scene, saying to The Hollywood Reporter:
“In a bath, drinking my champagne, it was the easiest day of work I’ve ever done in my life. Half a day shooting in a mansion in Malibu, with real 20-year-old Dom Perignon champagne that Adam McKay pulled out, I was like, ‘This never happens.’”
Margot Robbie having a bubble bath explaining financial jargon brought a glamorous and hilarious break to an otherwise serious film and became one of her most iconic scenes.
