  • Johnson revealed that the Black Adam sequel is not going to happen in the first phase of DCU.

American actor and WWE fame Dwayne Johnson is undoubtedly a very celebrated name in the cinema industry. He has won many awards both in his wrestling career as well as his acting career.

Johnson’s Black Adam apparently made DCEU gray instead of painting it with vibrant shades. The results would have favored the franchise if the actor had paid more attention to character-building. Despite having such a rich and decorated career, Johnson struggled to impress the audience with his superhero character. Fans have also pointed this out recently.

Playing the role of Black Adam was always a dream come true for the Rampage actor. Dwayne Johnson was always excited from the core of his heart to enter into the superhero genre. Fortunately, DCEU offered him the role and he came to the screens in 2022 with the action-adventure movie.

To everyone’s utter surprise, Johnson seemed to deliberately flunk his own dream project. His debut in DCEU didn’t get the expected reaction from fans and critics. The reason behind the failure is how Johnson perceived the entire scenario. Johnson apparently was not ready to stick to the roots and honor his character, unlike how Ryan Reynolds did justice to Deadpool.

Johnson once openly proclaimed in an Instagram post that his entry into the franchise would bring about a huge change. His claims would have stood true if he had made more efforts to make the character as it was supposed to be. This would entail him being the villain to Shazam just like Joker is known to be Batman’s archenemy. However, this did not seem to be what the star had in mind for his character-arc.

Had Johnson been concerned about the character, his portrayal of the superhero would have been grounded like Reynolds did with Deadpool. Industry insider Daniel Richtman pointed out that Johnson should have ensured that at least the script was good.

Fans of Johnson themselves agree with the claim that the actor should have just done what Reynolds did with his superhero character.

Clearly, Johnson should have learned this crucial lesson from Reynolds on how to play the dream role in a way that compliments both the actor’s reputation, as well as the franchise’s fame.

Black Adam ended with a few prospects open and revealed a major character return which is why fans were pretty sure that a sequel is just around the corner. However, since Johnson’s DCEU debut had a notoriously controversial run at the box office, the making of the second movie is in question.

The 52-year-old hunk couldn’t impress the fans like the makers expected and hence, the sequel has no solid confirmation. However, Johnson himself revealed that Black Adam’s appearance is not on the books for now and plans are under construction regarding the perfect utilization of his character. In an X post, he wrote:

James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.

Fans probably have some hope that if Black Adam ever returns to the theaters, Johnson will redeem his dream role and justify his character, just like Reynolds absolutely nailed his role as Deadpool.
