Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, regarding Oppenheimer and its cast Murphy explained about the s*x scenes and said:

“I think when you see it, it’s so f**king powerful. And they’re not gratuitous. They’re perfect. And Florence is just amazing. Those scenes were written deliberately.”

he believed that those scenes will get the movie rating it has now and he admitted that he’s been a big fan of Florence Pugh for a few years now.

“I have loved Florence’s work since Lady Macbeth and I think she’s f**king phenomenal. She has this presence as a person and on screen that is staggering. The impact she has [in Oppenheimer] for the size of the role, it’s quite devastating.”

“When you look at Oppenheimer’s life and you look at his story, that aspect of his life, the aspect of his se**ality, his way with women, the charm that he exuded, it’s an essential part of his story”.

He continued by praising Robert Downey Jr. who plays Lewis Strauss, a former naval officer and initial ally of Oppenheimer’s who later turns against him and becomes a key figure in revoking his security clearance at the controversial 1954 Atomic Energy Commission hearings.

“Downey is so super smart and has incredible insights and is incredibly emotionally available. But the way I work, I don’t really like talking about it too much. I don’t see the benefit of it,”.

Murphy added while talking about Downey.
