“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good.”

When asked which movie interested Chalamet to accept a superhero role, he added:

“The movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, “The Dark Knight.” If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”

The Oppenheimer filmmaker sat in a conversation with the Dune 2 director in which he praised Denis Villeneuve‘s work and compared the upcoming film with Star Wars’ The Empire Strikes Back. Nolan said:

“For me, I don’t think it says too much to say that if Dune: Part One was Star Wars, this to me is very much The Empire Strikes Back… I just think it’s an incredibly exciting expansion of all of the things you introduce in the first one.”

Villeneuve was surprised by Nolan’s honest words and called it a “massive compliment.” Dune 2 has generated immense excitement among fans, as it brings back the actor from the first installment, along with new faces like Florence Pugh and Austin Butler playing key figures in the Dune universe.

Dune 2 will come out on March 15, 2024.
