Yuri Lowenthal is known for his prominent roles in animation and anime such as the portrayal of Sasuke Uchiha in Naruto, and teenage Ben Tennyson in Ben 10. He has also voiced numerous video game characters such as The Prince in Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia and Matt Miller in Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV.

Yuri Lowenthal has also portrayed Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in many video games. One of his most recent portrayals of the character is in Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac Games. He plays the character alongside Nadji Jeter, who plays Miles Morales or young Spider-Man. However, Lowenthal has recently revealed his favorite Spider-Man actor to be Tobey Maguire.

Yuri Lowenthal’s Favorite Spider-Man Is Tobey Maguire

Marvel’s web-slinging superhero Spider-Man has been brought to life through films for a couple of times now. It started with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man which featured Tobey Maguire. Following the release of 2007’s Spider-Man 3, the franchise was rebooted by Sony which gave way to Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man.

When Marvel Studios got its hands on the rights to the superhero, it was introduced in the 2016 movie Captain America: Civil War, and was portrayed by English actor Tom Holland. Having three different versions of the same superhero has forced fans to make the hard decision of choosing one as their favorite Spider-Man.

Yuri Lowenthal, a big fan of the comics, recently revealed his favorite Spider-Man to The Hollywood Reporter, saying:

“In the movies, Tobey (Maguire) was always my guy. Watching Spider-Man: No Way Home, I watched all the joys of those guys hanging out together. Honestly, I could have watched an entire movie of those three Spider-Men sitting in a room, shooting the shit.”

It was a difficult decision for Lowenthal as well because he chose Maguire over his friend Josh Keaton who starred in the 2008 animated TV series The Spectacular Spider-Man. Perhaps it is Sam Raimi’s masterful filmmaking and Tobey Maguire’s unbeatable performance that make the actor the favorite Spider-Man among fans.

Nadji Jeter, who played the role of Miles Morales in Insomniac Games’ video game Spider-Man: Miles Morales, reprised his role in the upcoming game Spider-Man 2, which follows Yuri Lowenthal’s Peter Parker and Jeter’s Miles Morales as the two Spider-Men who fight crimes in the New York City while trying to protect the civilians.

Speaking of his dynamic with Nadji Jeter while filming for the game, Yuri Lowenthal said:

“My real-life relationship with Nadji, at various times, would echo the relationship that we have in the game. I think that just comes from me being a lot older than him and maybe having acted longer. But it just started to grow that way with us in real life, too. Which is fun! I’ve also become a father in real life since the first game.”

Lowenthal went on to say that Peter Parker is not trying to be a father to Miles Morales by any means. However, Parker does feel that Morales needs the guidance and care of someone who has been Spider-Man for a much longer time.
