It is not every day that the audience gets to watch an actor in his sixties running like there is no tomorrow, hanging from the side of an airplane, and many other such unfathomable stunts. The teaser trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning was dropped recently, and it has got every fan asking the same question.
Tom Cruise’s Unrelenting Stunts in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Is Raising the Same Question in Everyone’s Minds
Tom Cruise landed on the radars of Hollywood’s big executives through his performances in movies like Top Gun, The Color of Money, and Rain Man. Over the next couple of decades, he established himself as one of the leading stars in science-fiction and action films. He has been leading one of the most acclaimed action franchises, Mission: Impossible, since 1996.
Last year, the seventh installment of the franchise, Dead Reckoning was released, but the story was yet to be completed. The sequel to it, The Final Reckoning is set to be released next year, and the teaser trailer for it has dropped recently.
In the trailer (via YouTube), Cruise can be seen doing death-defying stunts like scuba-diving, giving a car chase a spin, and rolling about in a knife fight. This has led many fans to wonder how is The Mummy actor able to do all this even at 62 years of age. Here is what some of them had to say:

Amazing how Cruise still brings this level of intensity and commitment to the role.

The most surprising part of all is the fact that Cruise still does all his stunts on his own. Even at 62, he is as fit and active as ever as he continues to perform all these risky stunts on his own. In fact, this is an ongoing trend in all of his movies as of recent.
Tom Cruise Has Performed Some of the Most Risky Stunts in the History of Cinema
In the first MI film, in the aquarium blow-up scene, he was the one who performed the stunt of running away from 16 gallons of water. In the next one, he hung from the side of a cliff on just the support of a safety cable. For Ghost Protocol, he ran around, climbed, and swung from the Burj Khalifa with the help of just a wire supporting him.
In Rogue Nation, Cruise hung off an Airbus 400 in the sky. Cinematographer Robert Elswit told THR that the actor’s protection measures included a full body harness that was wired to the plane and special contact lenses to avoid any harm to his eyes. In Fallout, he broke his ankle by hitting it on the side of a building while jumping between two high-rise buildings during a chase scene.
In the seventh MI film, he took a motorcycle up a steep mountain ramp and launched himself off a cliff, free-falling before opening a parachute to land safely below. According to THR, he even learned speed-flying for the film. These stunts are just the ones in the MI films, he has also performed stunts in other projects like the Top Gun movies and The Mummy.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is scheduled for release on May 23, 2025.
