- Venom: The Last Chance is predicted to have a $180 million worldwide opening.
Tom Hardy is one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood, and he has played not one but two roles in superhero movies. The first one of these is the DC antagonist Bane in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, and the other one is as the titular character of Sony’s Venom trilogy.
With the release of the third installment, the film series is set to conclude from what is known as of now. This brings us to the age-old question of which one of Hardy’s superhero characters would win if they were to fight against each other. The 47-year-old actor has answered the question for us, but his answer is quite unexpected.
Tom Hardy Gives an Unexpected Answer When Asked Who Would Win in a Fight Between Bane and Venom
Tom Hardy has played some of the most popular characters. To name a few, he has portrayed ‘Mad’ Max Rockatansky in Mad Max: Fury Road, Alfie Solomons in the hit BBC drama series Peaky Blinders, and the Kray twins in the biographical film Legend. Bane and Venom are also incredibly popular superhero characters that he has played.
On one hand, Bane is one of the nemeses that make up Batman’s rogues gallery and he is also often known to be the only enemy that has been able to defeat the Caped Crusader mentally and physically. On the other hand, Venom is a sentient alien symbiote with a liquid like form that needs a host to survive. This host is usually humans. It initially debuted in the comics as one of Spider-Man’s biggest enemies but evolves into an anti-hero.
As one can imagine, these characters are capable of giving each other a tough fight. Hardy seems to agree with this and when asked which character would win in a fight, he told Collider Interviews:
I think it would be a draw. I think they would continue to fight.
His answer is certainly not what anyone would expect, but he does not seem to be willing to pick sides which is understandable because he has first-hand experience of playing both characters and knows both of their powers. Venom: The Last Dance director was not generous as Hardy though because she insisted that Venom would win.
Venom: The Last Dance Is Slithering Towards a Grand Opening at the Global Box Office
Venom: The Last Dance is probably the last time fans will get to witness the alliance of Eddie Brock and Venom in a solo movie. It is the fifth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and marks Marcel’s directorial debut. Hardy and Marcel co-wrote the script.
According to Deadline, the domestic previews have earned the movie $8.5 million. The global box office collection was initially predicted to be $150 million on the basis of the overseas collection (via Deadline), but that has changed significantly as it is now being claimed that the movie will make $180 million. Whether or not the movie will be able to hit this mark remains to be seen.
Venom: The Last Dance is now in theatres.
