The so-far untitled Venom 3 will be the sixth installment in Sony’s Spider-Man franchise. The film is being written, co-produced, and directed by Kelly Marcel, who will be making her directorial debut with Venom 3. Tom Hardy will, as usual, reprise his role as Eddie Brock and will be co-producing the movie as well.

The movie already went through a lot of hurdles due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes that went on for 118 days. Recently, Tom Hardy took to Instagram to say that Venom 3 has resumed production and will soon appear on screen. Given its past success on screen, Marvel has a lot to look forward to when it comes to the Venom franchise. However, recent predictions have shown that it might get lost among the big-budget movies coming out in 2024 and become one of the lowest-earning MCU films.

How much is Venom 3 predicted to make at the box office?

The first Venom movie made a staggering $856 million worldwide, and it was a massive success. Venom 2 called Venom: Let There Be Carnage, actually came out during the COVID-19 pandemic and still managed to cross the $500 million mark at the box office ($501.5 million total worldwide). So, it would not be unfair for fans and Sony to think that Venom 3 would recreate that success again.

However, recently, The Direct did an article on the box office predictions of highly anticipated movies in 2024. Although the reports were in favor of Venom 3, it did rank last on the list. The list contained movies such as Deadpool 3, Despicable Me 4, Joker: Folie à Deux, and many more big names that would take the stage in 2024. It was called a “safe bet” in 2024 and predicted to surpass the $500 million mark, which was overshadowed massively by the hype and success prediction around Deadpool 3

Did Venom 3 resume production?

Tom Hardy took to Instagram roughly a week ago to share that Venom 3 production has resumed. In that post, he wrote in the caption:

“Thankfully, we are back to shooting; and I want to take a moment just to thank all the teams thus far on the ride from V1 to here all our fantastic Cast and crew- good friends and family – we’ve come a long way – it’s been and continues to be a lot of fun this journey there’s always hard turns to burn when we work but doesn’t feel as hard when you love what you do and when you know you have great material and the support at all sides, of a great team.”

Hardy also went on to mention Venom 3 director Kelly Marcel in his post and expressed his adoration by saying:

“I want to mention very briefly how proud of my director, writing partner and dear friend Kelly Marcel. Watching you taking the helm on this one fills me with pride, it is an honor. Trust your gut, your instincts are always spot on. First class – I back you.”

The news came after SAG-AFTRA finally decided to conclude the 118-day actor’s strike with a tentative deal. Due to this, Sony had to push the release of Venom 3 from July 2024 to November 2024.

Venom 3 is slated to release on November 8, 2024, across theatres.
