Few franchises in Hollywood have been able to achieve the kind of success and popularity that the MCU enjoys. What was just a comic book publication once has become one of the biggest media conglomerates in the world. So, they must have been doing something right even though the recent years have proved otherwise.

Deadpool & Wolverine resurrected the MCU, and now the franchise seems to be looking for other ways to keep the fans invested. For years, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man who is a genius, philanthropist, and billionaire without the suit had the fans coming back for more. Bidding adieu to his character in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame had millions of people in shambles.

It was Tony Stark who discovered Peter Parker, took him under his wing, and ensured his welfare till his last breath. While there is no way that his absence can be fulfilled, Marvel is reportedly trying to strike a deal with Sony (via X) to ensure that they can have more of Iron Man’s mentee in their projects.

If this deal is cracked, it will probably mean that Holland might surpass the number of projects Downey Jr. has appeared in. Additionally, there are chances that Spidey will now become part of some of the most demanded storylines including his team-up with Daredevil and Fantastic Four. These changes, if they happen, are not likely to happen anytime soon, but the mere prospect that they might happen is exciting enough.

Could Tom Holland Leave Behind Robert Downey Jr. in Terms of the Number of Marvel Projects?

Holland made his debut as Peter 8 years after Downey Jr. joined the franchise. So far, the former has starred in a total of 6 MCU movies while the Oppenheimer star has starred in 10. The first of these ten movies was Iron Man, released in 2008. The film’s success served as the foothold Marvel needed in the industry.

The last movie that starred the Dolittle star was Avengers: Endgame. However, a couple of months ago, it was revealed that he is not quite done with the franchise as he will now appear as the supervillain Doctor Doom. So far, he is confirmed to star in two upcoming Avengers movies, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

This implies that Downey Jr. has 12, (10 already there and 2 in the making) movies under his belt. Holland, on the other hand, has 7 movies (6 already there and 1 in the making) under his belt. The new deal, however, could change the number drastically with Spider-Man also appearing in shows besides the movies.
