Streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and HBO Max have managed to release a spectacular range of series in 2021. With that being said, every other streaming platform is producing its own shows and films. While Disney+ managed to capture the authentication of Marvel and Star Wars shows, Netflix and Amazon also positioned themselves as significant competitor. Furthermore, 2021 has recorded a handful number of releases on these streaming platforms out of which these are the top 5 ones –

Loki

Loki starred Tom Hiddleston as the titular character who gets arrested by the TVA (Time Variance Authority) after breaching the timeline. When the series was first announced, no one believed that a character like the God of Mischief, Loki, would manage to develop this sort of persona that by the season finale, people will go crazy behind him. Apart from the magical performance by Tom Hiddleston, it was Sophia Di Martino who played Sylvie, a Loki variant.

Hawkeye

Marvel’s latest release, Hawkeye, is all about the street-level crime. With that being said, the series sees Barton getting highlighted because he has to pay back for the mistakes he has done as Ronin. Well, this street-level crime series is something new that Marvel introduced ever. It didn’t include any world-altering implications nor did it have any other guest appearances. However, Hawkeye brought Yelena Belova from Black Widow and Wilson Fisk from Daredevil.

Lupin

Series like Lupin and Squid Game proved that viewers do prefer series from the international genre. With that being said, Lupin was inspired by a novel by Maurice Leblanc where a con artist adapts the ways of a fictional character, Arsene Lupin. He does it to continue a long revenge plot in place of his father. While season 1 of the show ended with a huge cliffhanger, season 2 aired being the most popular heist series of 2021. It also included a blend of family drama and mystery.

WandaVision

WandaVision was perhaps the first Marvel series that landed on Disney+. With that being said, the series dealt with the phase Wanda went through after she lost her brother and Vision in the Age of Ultron and Infinity War. While the show managed to set itself on the top of the pop culture list, fans went quite curious about what next was about to happen. The story is now going to continue slightly in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as well.

Squid Game

Once that Parasite won the best film award in 2019, viewers learned that there are far better things that other language media could offer. In this regard, Squid Game is perhaps the greatest evidence we have so far. The series followed a group of debt-riddled and struggling South Korean people who got kidnapped to play games by a mysterious organization. Now, these 456 people were asked to play and win or die; and with each game, the stakes became even higher. With that being said, the series was so magnetic that it managed to become the most successful Netflix show ever.
