Top HBO Max Shows To Look Forward To In 2022
HBO has been making some captivating crime dramas and amazing comedies on the TV and with HBO Max coming in, there are certain exclusives to look forward to. But that’s not it, the network is making some big changes to ensure that those who do not have subscriptions to the streaming service, would be missing out on some big shows.
Many DC series are already in development and possibly could be released in 2022, which is still not confirmed. There are shows like Doom Patrol and Love Life that are coming back with new seasons, but here are some of the exciting new and original HBO Max shows that the subscribers just can’t miss out on!
1. Peacemaker
HBO Max is doing as much as possible in order to promote Peacemaker, the number of efforts put in is more compared to what they have done for any other show before. After all the DCEU show does have the potential to attract more subscribers to the streaming platform. Peacemaker is considered to be John Cena’s best 2021 character and he was the best in The Suicide Squad too.
With a TV show on his character, the fans can expect around 8 hours of Peacemaker as he tries to keep the peace by killing people. And the fact that James Gunn is a part of the show, we know it’s going to be amazing!
2. Tokyo Vice
HBO has been spot on when it comes to crime dramas like The Sopranos, True Detective, and The Wire and they have set some high standards of the genre. These shows are legendary and Tokyo Vice is expected to carry on the legacy.
The show is set in the late ’90s and it revolves around an American journalist who is reporting on the corruption in the Vice squad. For those who know about the real incident, know that the show has great potential to be one of the gripping shows on HBO. We can’t wait to see what Ansel Elgort brings us to the screen!
3. The Staircase
This series doesn’t sound as exciting as the other upcoming shows but Staircase in itself is a frightening tale. This is an addition to another “true-crime” series from HBO. It focuses on a man who was convicted of murder when his wife was found at the bottom of the staircase in their house.
The miniseries is based on the 2004’s true-crime docuseries by the same name which is created by Jean Xavier de Lestrade. HBO mas managed to get an amazing star cast for their series. Toni Collette and Academy Award winner Colin Firth is starring in the series.
4. Love and Death
The title could be suggesting a comic relief but do not expect the same since it revolves around the brutal murder of Candy Montgomery in the 1980s. It is based on a true story and all characters are real-life people who lived in Texas. The show is adapted from non-fiction called, Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs.
The show is set to star Elisabeth Olsen along with Jesse Plemons who has been part of shows like Fargo, Breaking Bad and Black Mirror.
5. Gremlins
The fact that Gremlins is being adapted into a children’s cartoon is hilarious since the original movie is not suitable for kids. Gremlins commit real-life crimes and are thrown into blenders and microwaves until they are blown up or mushed up.
The animation is however so charming and looks as if it will build a tradition. The series is set to be a prequel of the two movies and is set in Shanghai in the 1920s and follows Sam Wing as he meets Gizmo.
