Stallion got her justice in the end, but the road to it was very rocky. The details about her relationship with Lanez also remained quite murky as the latter kept claiming that they had been physical, but the WAP rapper insisted that it was not the truth. In the end, things were cleared up, and despite her initial reluctance, Stallion revealed what exactly happened.
Megan Thee Stallion Insisted That She Had Not Been in a Physical Relationship with Tory Lanez
The year was 2020 and Megan Thee Stallion was well on her way to becoming a star in the rap industry when a shooting incident involving her, her friend Kelsey Harris, and fellow rapper Tory Lanez almost ruined it all. It took her quite some time just to prove that she had been wounded in the incident.
In July 2020, Billboard reported that Tory Lanez was arrested on a felony charge for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. When the SUV reported at the incident was tracked down, Lanez was in the car with Stallion and a friend of hers. The three-time Grammy winner seemed to have an injury on her foot. At the time, the Talk to Me rapper was released on a bail of $35,000.
Sources reported to Page Six that Lanez had shot Stallion, but neither of the rappers commented about it until the latter took to Instagram to show a picture of her injury. She also later confirmed on Instagram Live that Lanez had shot her (via Business Insider).
At the time, many outlets including NBC addressed Stallion as Lanez’s ex-girlfriend. This did not sit right with the rapper. In an op-ed she wrote for The New York Times, she claimed she had no romantic relationship with Lanez. However, she retracted this claim during a court hearing in December 2022.
Megan Thee Stallion Admitted That She Had Been Physically Involved with Tory Lanez
More than two years later, the case had still not been solved. Stallion and Lanez had had a back-and-forth through music. However, the former had to face a lot of criticism in the industry because it was initially made to look like a s*x scandal which the Hiss singer addressed in the court hearing in December 2022 (via People).
During the hearing, she admitted that she had been in a s*xual relationship with Lanez and had been embarrassed to admit it earlier.
I’m embarrassed because I’m a grown woman hanging with people I have no business hanging out with. Now look at how everybody want to view me…. How could I share my body with someone who would shoot me… Now every week there’s an article calling me a ‘hoe.’
When Lanez’s attorney, George Mgdesyan asked her if she had been lying about her relationship with the Luv rapper until then, she confessed that she was. Later that month, CNN reported that Lanez was sentenced to ten years in prison. So, Stallion got her justice, but she was scarred for life by the incident.
