Every time we hear about a TV show getting a reboot, there are mixed feelings among the fans. While some shows come back with all-new casts and new storylines, some shows pick up just where the original show had left it off.

There is no denying that while some shows turn out to be so bad that we wish we were dead, some shows turn out to be pretty good; sometimes even better than the original. Here are some of the best Tv show reboots that defied all our expectations!

1. The Office (Us Version)

Many people claim that this version is better than the UK original, which is a great opinion but they aren’t exactly right. There is no doubt that The Office is a brilliant series and “it gets better after the first season”. US version has its dedicated following and Uk has its own.

For those who don’t know, the synopsis goes like this: A diverse group of office workers goes through every day’s hilarious misadventures at their Scranton, in Pennsylvania branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fischer along with others have done some fantastic jobs in the series. It’s safe to say that this reboot has become a cult classic, and many people aren’t even aware that this was a reboot.

2. Samurai Jack

The original series ran from 2001 to 2004 on Cartoon Network and it was AMAZING. And we can’t be the only ones to think that he looked hell similar to Professor Utonium from Powerpuff Girls.

The show is about a Samurai who is sent through time and is fighting to return home and save the world. He has embarked on a mission to defeat the evil shape-shifting wizard Aku. But before he can complete his task, he has been hurled thousands of years into the future. Fans have praised the show stating that Jack finally found his way home that too with all the honor he deserved.

3. One Day at a Time

The original series ran from 1975 to 1984 on CBS and was about a divorced mother Ann Romano who moved to Indianapolis with her daughters. She struggles to raise her teen daughters on her own and tried to maintain a balance between her career and her girls.

The reboot was based on Penelope who is a single Army veteran, now a nurse, and is raising her two children. She faces her own set of problems and turns into her “old-school” mother. Fans appreciated the fact the show acknowledged the pain while processing it. It even offered a warm touch to watch it.

4. Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life

The original series is an absolute cult classic and loved by so many. Lorelai Gilmore is an independent young woman who has a great bond with her daughter Rory. But Lorelai’s relationship with her mother is not so great.

The reboot takes the fans back to Stars Hollow for a year with an episode for each season. The fans praised the reboot stating that it managed to connect its complicated present to the wonderful past we had all lived through. The reboot was worth the visit.

5. Battlestar Galactica

The original series ran from 1978 to 1979 on ABC. The reboot also revolves around a similar plot as the original one. A group of humans aboard a battleship called Battlestar Galactica. They are forced to leave their planet after it has been attacked by Cylons. These humans try to escape the Cylons as they search for their true home aka Earth.

The reboot has some political maneuvering and philosophical debates, but yet has enough action to stop the show from getting too preachy. And the reboot did far better than the original. The original series has an IMDb of 7.2, while the reboot has a solid rating of 8.7!
