Ridley was surprised after she met a Disneyland cast member dressed as Rey. The moment was captured by fans as well as the actress as she shared the photo with her character on her Instagram story, calling it “Surrealist!” Moreover, Ridley also thanked the tour guide by writing, “Philander, the best Disneyland tour guide there ever was.”

Netizens were quick to react to this surreal encounter. Many shared hilarious puns, and some compared their meet-up with the famous Spider-Men pointing toward each other meme.

Other than that, Daisy Ridley also toured the Rise of the Resistance attraction, and was delighted to see her hologram of Rey. She shared her feelings on her Instagram story with the caption, “Being IN the (top rated!) ride at Disneyland is MAD!

This unexpected meeting happens at quite an interesting time for both Ridley and Star Wars fans. Ridley was last seen in The Rise of Skywalker, and now she will again be portraying the character of Rey in another Star Wars installment.

In April 2023, during the Star Wars Celebration in London, three new Star Wars films were announced, and one of them will be the story of Rey. The movie will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and focus on the rebuilding of the new Jedi order.

In an interview with Empire, Ridley talked about how she decided to come back to the Star Wars franchise. She revealed that the offer for her new film was unexpected for her.

I didn’t say yes right away, Kathy [Kennedy, Lucasfilm president] was like, ‘Take as long as you need.’ It was actually really funny, on the way there [to meet Kennedy], I was on the phone with my best friend and he goes, ‘Oh my God, Dais, imagine if they’re doing a Rey TV show.’ And I was like, ‘Nah, we’re literally just going for breakfast.’

Ridley acknowledged the divisive nature of her previous trilogy, but the love from fans that she received convinced her to return for the role. She said,

Yes, they have been divisive, but also they bring a lot of love and joy to a lot of people. It feels pretty amazing to be able to continue a character – like, can I even remember how to play her? It’s an interesting challenge as an actor to come back to something and try to figure out what’s changed for me and what’s changed for her.

In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ridley confessed that she still feels sad after the backlash of The Rise of Skywalker. However, she has no regrets about playing the role and is ready to take on the challenge further. Regarding the next movie in the franchise, Ridley didn’t reveal much, as she had a very brief idea about the flow of the story.

The new trilogy of Star Wars is available on Disney+.
