“Ugh another reboot?”: Netflix Takes Internet On Fire After Announcing The Reboot Of Iconic ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ Series in Barbie’s Greta Gerwig Lead
When talking about one of Hollywood’s most recognized directors currently, Greta Gerwig is someone that cannot be ignored. She has come a long way from her days as Frances Ha. In recent times Gerwig has slowly made a name for herself with projects such as Little Women (2019), Lady Bird, and the upcoming Mattel’s Barbie starring Margot Robbie as the lead ritual character.
Moreover, Netflix recently announced that Gerwig will be directing two new Chronicles of Narnia films for the platform. This means the director already has her plate full in terms of upcoming projects. However, the announcement regarding the Narnia comeback did not seem to have impressed many Twitter users.
Fans Express Their Discontement Surrounding Netflix’s Announcement of Upcoming Chronicles of Narnia Project
It seems that after Barbie, Greta Gerwig is already set for another project as Netflix recently announced that she will be directing two Chronicles of Narnia films for the streaming giant. The three previous adaptations of the C.S. Lewis books were a huge hit among the audience with the last being released back in 2010.
After more than a decade since that, Netflix is seemingly bringing back the fantasy book series onto the screen once again.
The streaming giant recently announced that Gerwig was set to direct two of the films for their platform. Although this sound like good news for the fans, however, many reacted with dividedly about the idea on Twitter with one responding,
“ugh another reboot? I want more original films I’m begging…”
To this someone responded with,
“Nah this franchise deserves a reboot. It’s been long enough, never got a good conclusion, and it’s a popular IP, so why not.”
Another tweeted,
“But can Netflix commit to the whole series tho considering their track record”
Nothing can be said with absolute certainty as of now about how the film will turn out. But with Gerwig directing two of them, it is at least promising as Robbie once said that the Lady Bird director’s movie dialogues captured deeper topics.
