2022 has begun as we are at least seven months away from Thor: Love and Thunder, however, marketing associated with the film has begun surfacing online. This past year, an officially licensed poster came up on social media, showing all the characters that were associated with the movie. While Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi quickly debunked the poster as fake, a new photo taken by Valkyrie star Tessa Thompson confirms the authenticity of the alleged poster.

Tessa’s picture started to surface online on Sunday evening, showing Valkyrie in new duds, way different than what the actress was last seen wearing during Endgame. Her new costume gets its inspiration from Thor Odinson’s design. Even after this, it’s quite different as there’s a bit of color involved. Instead, this suit appears all black and white virtually.

“In the canon, [Valkyrie] is bisexual. You see her with women and men, so that was my intention in playing her,” Thompson said about her character in 2019. “Obviously, at the forefront of most of these stories is not typically their romantic life. They have big stakes, like saving the world, so that tends to sort of trump.”

“Captain Marvel just broke the ceiling off and dissipated myths about what women can do in these spaces and society,” Thompson added. “So it feels like we are really entering a new phase of Marvel. So this night is about celebrating more than just this film… [Stan Lee’s] vision is the idea: what makes you different is actually your superpower. And when we’re living inside of a robust time to be able to say to people that they can love who they want to love, they can be who they want to be. It’s perfect to include those narratives inside of this world.”

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit the theaters on July 8, 2022.
