After 11 years of marriage, Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied have decided to head for a divorce. The former couple first began dating in 2009, were wed in 2012, and went through a brief separation in 2022 before reconnecting have finally called it quits.

Why did Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied split?
Actress Natalie Portman and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, who met back in 2009 on the sets of Black Swan, and got married in 2012 have now decided to call it quits on their 11-year-long marriage. The reports suggested that Millepied was engaged in an extramarital affair with 25-year-old Camille Étienne, who is known to be an activist, and has caused irreparable strain on their relationship.
The reports suggested that Portman and Millepied have tried their best to make it through the tough time, but despite trying to mend their relationship, their attempts have failed and they are now living separately. On August 4th, the actress was spotted without her wedding ring.
A source shared with US Weekly, “After news of his affair came out, they’ve been trying to work on their marriage but are currently on the outs.” However, another source shared with People,
“He knows he made an enormous mistake and he is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together. Natalie is incredibly private and has no intention of playing this out in the media. Her biggest priority is protecting her children and their privacy.”
The two share two kids, Aleph and Amalia.

After a messy and public separation, it was reported that the actress is now thinking of giving her husband another chance, as a source close said that she believes that “life would be very difficult without Benjamin”, which is why she is considering giving her estranged husband another chance.
The source said,
“It’s been very difficult to hold on to her marriage — and painful to let it go. She’s stuck in the middle. She doesn’t want to throw it all away, but she’s also desperately unhappy and having serious trust issues.
The source also said that Benjamin has expressed how sorry he is but Natalie has yet to overcome the crippling anxiety and insecurity caused by a spouse’s fire.They also added,
“She is plagued by doubts and having second thoughts, which could doom their chances of any future together.”
Natalie Portman re-thinking divorce because of the kids
The couple share two kids, Aleph and Amalia, and it’s because of them the actress does not want to get a divorce. The actress is an incredibly private person and her biggest concern at the moment is to simply protect her kids from the scrutiny.
It was reportedly that the Black Swan actress and her husband were having marital issues while she was filming her upcoming movie, May-December. The former couple recently attended FIFA Women’s World Cup final in Australia for the first time since the news of his affair followed by divorce started to spread.
A second insider, however, said that Portman didn’t know whether she and her husband would be able to rebuild their relationship following the scandal and added that she is “Right now, they are talking and working on it together for the sake of their children.” They said that the actress does not want to turn the lives of their kids upside down before stating that she feels that it’s going to be really hard for her to imagine a life without Benjamin.
Back in 2018, the actress shared on SiriusXM Town Hall about her relationship with her husband; she said,
“I met my husband on [the set of Black Swan], so I think I was in, like, dreamland and said he was teaching me to dance. You know, one of those romantic [stories]. It was definitely exciting and fun. It was beautiful. I don’t know about instant. It was like I really got to know him and that was when it seemed like, ‘Oh this is the person.'”
Talking about their collaboration, Portman said, “It was really fun because I think he knows me so well, and what my strengths and weaknesses are in dancing, that he was really able to create choreography very seamlessly and quickly because we had very little time”. She added that it was very convenient that he kept her so well.
However, neither fo the two have confirmed the news but sources close to them believe that what is yet to come is not looking great.
